Culture
Yelia is a religious city built upon the foundations of the Pantheon of the Holy Trinity. It houses decades of knowledge that dates back to the Age of Divinity. The city is known to be one of the oldest, and longest-lasting bastions of humanity that have ever existed. It has various villages within the mountainous reaches of Mount Medullium. Each of the villages bears natural walls and holy scriptures fortifications, making it highly impervious to sieges or attacks. While this defense is a boon, their population remains small compared to other lands as a result of the minimal area that is present in the mountains. Many of their people move outwards towards other cities such as Grehearth in search of better prospects and larger living space. While many of its former buildings and holy sites have fallen in the Battle of Mo'ra, some of the ancient architecture still remains present to this date. They are heralded as sacred grounds that bear the blessings of the Trinity, many of which reside in the protection of the The Holy Knights. Note that these individuals of Yelia are of the Old Tenets which revolve around Forgiveness, rather than those of the The Theocracy of Haven who follow the New Tenets of Punishments. Upon every Saturday upon noontime, the sounds of angelic choirs and blessings are bestowed upon the followers of the Trinity. Protected under their guidance and watchful eyes, this land is known to be one of the safest in the continent as a direct result. Individuals who are caught committing crimes are punished not only by the hands of the Holy Knights, but by angels sent by a sect of Heaven that follows the Trinity to enact divine punishment.People of Yelia
Faithfuls of the Trinity
Devout individuals who have served and prayed to the Trinity for the longest time. Many of their lineages bear a Trinity symbology on their bodies and do not migrate elsewhere. This is typically seen as a pendant, bracelet, or other forms of accessories. In rare cases, some may bear magical tattoos or insignias that resemble the faith.Holy Knights
Trinity Faithfuls arrive from all across the continents to begin their pilgrimage in Yelia. Following the tenants of the Trinity, they seek to defend the faithful and protect the weak within their borders and reach. They are individuals of mercy and serenity who seek to reach enlightenment between all of humanity. Many of them adopt the belief that all are redeemable, given that the opposition is capable of mercy and forgiveness. Many of their Holy Knights have lineages back to the Age of Divinity where they once laid Crusades against the Demonic Fronts that once ran rampant.
While many of these Demonic Fronts do not occur anymore on such a massive scale, their duties still continue onwards.
The Clergy
Clergymen, Priests, Priestess, etc... any title that bears a semblance of respect in the region is considered to bear a semblance of power. These individuals are given direct control and influence within their village of land to govern and teach. Many of them are tasked with educating and providing the typical services a church would provide, alongside management and overseeing the town. They are typically assisted by various other organizations, along with their own faithful.
Angels
While Angels do not have a permanent residence in Yelia, it is not uncommon to hear angelic hymns while strolling down the streets.Choir angels find their ways towards Yelia during Saturdays to sing hymns of blessings. Their voices echo throughout various chambers of worship, granting the populace a boon.
While many angels do not speak directly to the masses, there are occasionally descendants of higher-ranked angels who guide, speak, or bestow blessings upon the faithful.
Unlike their Choir counterparts, they only decent to speak to the most devout of the clergy or in the direst of circumstances.
History
For many centuries, the lands of Yelia have remained independent through the rise and fall of many kingdoms throughout Iberia's history. Through their crusades against the demonic and the Fomorians invasions, they have proved themselves as a valiant and unwavering city. Although in recent years- and changing climates and politics- Yelia has conceded their regions to be adopted by The Aliech Kingdom. Many begin their pilgrims starting from the mountains of Yelia, as it was rumored that the mountain is where angels would make their descent. From the Holy Knights, to the Cloths, many sects would consider this as a sacred religious site of worship. Even those of The Theocracy of Haven who originally inhabited these lands still consider it as a holy site.Government
