The High Practitioner
The High Practitioner is the highest ranking member of the Society of Practitioners
Qualifications
A candidate for the position of High Practitioner must have demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge of the arcane arts. They must also be well versed in the creation of magic items or the applications of metamagic. A candidate must be capable of displaying such knowledge by producing an item of their own crafting or weaving a spell that is manipulated by at least three applications of metamagic.
Requirements
Potential candidates for the rank of High Practitioner must have completed a significant piece of work pertaining to the arcane arts. Such works have varied candidate to candidate and have ranged from crafting new spells or a unique magic item to research and creation of magic ward that encompass entire cities. Although there are have been some exceptions to these rules in a couple of instances the candidates had been involved in preventing Traith altering events.
Appointment
The High Practitioner is elected by the Council of Mastery which is compromised of the most accomplished specialists from each school of magic. Upon election and promotion the to rank of High Practitioner a ceremonial ritual is held. All active Practitioners are recalled to Isle of Wizmeir and required to participate in ritual thus binding themselves to the newly appointed High Practitioner. Any Practitioner who does not attend the ritual is removed from the Society and all privileges are revoked until a new High Practitioner is elected.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Once the rank of High Practitioner has been granted to a Practitioner it remains theirs unless these restrictions broken.
1. A High Practitioner retains the position until they either retire or die.
2. The High Practitioner may extend their existence through the use of positions, spells, or magic items.
3. A High Practitioner cannot hold the rank in excess of five hundred years.
4. If the High Practitioner obtains immortality the must relinquish the position.
5. Any High Practitioner that seeks out undeath is immediately removed.
6. The High Practitioner must never put themselves before the Society as a whole. Any transgression in this form calls for their banishment from the order.
