Black Sword Group

One of the few private military contractors crazy enough to accept work in Port Atlantica, the Black Sword Group is a relatively young but ambitious and already world-renowned PMC whose services have been of use to important groups in the world during its now-common crises, with Port Atlantica being the first state proper to employ them full-time. Due to the intense demand and pressure upon the city's law enforcement, caused in no small part by the city's strange denizens, happenings and constant threats, The Black Sword Group is employed as reinforcement in certain areas. Their presence is most notable and heavy in Downtown, owing to the bigger number of superhuman crime in the area, which has made them clash with groups that act in the District, most usually The Freebooters. The fact that they are given auxiliary authority to enforce the city's laws have also created a rivalry - bordering on enmity - with the PAPD proper.
It is not without reason, many rightfully suspect that the Black Sword Group might be a cover for some of Atlantica's more corrupt elements to exert their influence and authority without having to even go through the checks and balances of the PAPD. And the Group's authoritative, paramilitary approach to keeping order has also made even citizens wary of them.
