The Souths

(The Souths are an NPC faction, and with the exception of certain named individuals may be used by any roleplayer in their scenes.)
Known as one of, if not the biggest, of the mega-gangs from Southside, The Souths are responsible for a good deal of the crime that happens in the rougher parts of Southside, consisting on several cells of smaller gangs that partake in lower-stakes, smaller crime, but who all respond to the centralized leadership of the main gang. Composed both of the small homegrown crime of Atlantica and criminal organizations that banded together to operate in Port Atlantica, its members range from small-time robbers or petty thieves, to hardened hitmen and thugs. A variety of members and a segmentation of operations that has allowed them to survive and even thrive.
However, what has made The Souths special is not only their criminals savviness nor their wealth of members. Instead, its their craftiness and adaptability. The Souths tend to keep low profiles during big crises, and they are well-known for scavenging, smuggling and repurposing many of the advanced gear or unusual trinkets that come into the city, whether from a stray supervillain, an unusual rift or something else.
This resourceful attitude has allowed its main cells to become a problem not only for specialized law enforcement but for the superhero community, who can often times find themselves that the usual crooks are using equipment way above their paygrade.
