Khufr'o City

Khuf'ro City is the immensely vibrant capitol city of Kästran Island. Less shining metropolis or historical relic, the overwhelming feeling in Khuf'ro is that of an approachable cosmopolitan hub.
[DM Note to players: The Cloud Sea is, as far as fantasy settings go, already fairly cosmopolitan and diverse. Kästran takes this a step further than even cities like Indran, Undsul, or Tiupran. Unlike those cities, corruption and inequity are less rampant. People have a good quality of life in general.
Politics-wise, Khuf'ro resembles a hybridized Technocracy & Democracy. All peoples living within the city's borders qualify as citizens and may optionally file to participate in civics based off of profession. Each year, 10 people are drawn randomly from a pool of peers in their field to serve as a representative in the legislature. The various professional pools are as follows:

• Craftspeople
• Construction Workers
• Bureaucrats
• Scholars
• Farmers
• Military/Security
• Scientists
• Sailors
• General Laborers
• Service Workers

It's worth noting that this can be expanded the list can be expanded by referendum. It's rarely met with resistance to add another group. Househusbands/wives are the unofficial 12th group at the moment, with a special provision allowing for 5 additional unemployed domestic members to join. However, due to their often parental duties, they tend to not participate unless necessary or family related matters are being discussed.
Additionally, politcal parties are strictly banned. The only affiliation allowed is your professional grouping. Whatmore, corruption and bribery are extremely looked down upon with ostracism being the baseline punishment for accepting or offering bribes. In Khuf'ro, corruption is considered as wicked as murder.
Beyond the details of the city's political operation, it is important to note that Khuf'ro City is the defacto capitol of Kästran, but does not control the island. Instead, it acts more as a hands-off steward and always assists. In the past, Khuf'ro did control the island directly, but as a result of intervention have moved away from exerting control over others. Consequently, this can make it easier for outside forces to manipulate and influence events on the island.
