Hoshimotomu

Hoshimotomu, written 星求む in Honne language, which comes to mean "star seeker", is a legendary title awarded to explorers known for having made major cartographic discoveries in the galaxy. Bearers of the Hoshitomoru title come from a variety of backgrounds, and to this day they are a well-respected guild, specially regarding their hability to fly, and their skills in exploring uncharted space.
Honorable mentions include the Mijazan mappers, from the homonym state and region; those from the Southern Sakyo Islands, known for their discoveries in voyaging and maestry on electrical components; and the Honoga/Hanago, a series of states in the northern temperate regions whose guild-like inner workings and leadership have created a star-seeking culture known by many.

History

The title goes back to the times of The Alliance, when the central government started to announce a series of rewards and compensations that eventually made it viable for many to become interstellar explorers via a periodic wage.
These initial efforts would soon devolve into the proffession gaining recognition, mainly, from the many discoveries that had been achieved regarding Circumspace routes and Circumspace interstellar travelling.
Eventually, many Mijazan came together to create a small league of travellers, aimed at creating a sense of brotherhood for the explorers, one that eventually came to be called Hoshitomoru, and one that grew in fame more than in numbers, becoming a leading explorer-based organization in the galaxy.
Nowadays, the Hoshitomoru badge might not be the most well-known title, nor the most famous starflyer achievement, but those in the field with some degree of experience will have heard of their guild and their famous discoveries. After all, it was Hoshimotomu's that lead the traficking of Cartes through the darker times of the galaxy.
