They are basically a humanoid species, that evolved to also be out of the water, but they still leave under it. Even though they are ugly, they are quite surprising an intelligent species, as they are known to have good handwriting and hand-eye coordination, as also as a huge love for food.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Kitans are sometimes more of an octopus than a human. Yeah, they have four limbs, but they have rare skin tones, six tentacles and they are, most of the time, ugly. Their tentacles are called, from middle to the side, Middle, Index, Side, and the space between the two Middle Tentacles is called Alley.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They have hydroacoustic capabilities. As a submarine radar, they can emit this strange sound that goes deep into the ocean and detects all those surfaces in which the sound bounces, as algae, rocks, sand, but also K'ruevla, or live food as they call it. It is like a second vision, one that we can't imagine as humans, but they explain it like that, a kind of eyesight that goes as a 3D real life model of a submarine sonar, all in black, but with white shadows that emerge from sound and show all the surroundings.
Away from that, they have perfect under and overwater sight, hearing capabilities, taste and smell. They are completely prepared for both scenarios. Because of this is considered as an impure race for some people, but for others, it is a gods treasure. The Alliance used this capacities to train them as elite all-terrain soldiers.

Naming Traditions

Most of their names have some type of K in it, as they have at least 5 different sounds for it, and even if those are almost undistinguishable from one another, they are truly different, as a point that a word can be completely different written.

Name

Because of languages, this race is called Kitans from the outside, but they call themselves Kubans. At some situtions as war, kitans would found another of theur race and call them Kuban instead of Kitan as a friendly call, as that word/name was very damaged throughout the years.
