Elves

Solemn Practitioners

Elves were once the strongest and most widespread of City Races. But their fascination with magic drew their eyes away from conquest and they became more and more isolated to their main island of Yama. Now the Elves, though perhaps the most learned in terms of the Arcane, face rising levels of poverty and discontent back home.   The Elves live in a rigorous Caste-like system where your place in society is determined at birth, as their Takusan beliefs insist that ascension in society is possible in another life if one behaves properly. This often leads to strict and punishing lives for lower classes, but ones that breed excellence. All elves are expected to follow an Iron Oath: a lifelong dedication to the pursuit of a goal. Those who achieve it are hailed as great; those who die trying are revered as well. Those who cower or lose their way are seen as traitors to their soul's desires.   The Elves once fought the Tabaxi in their native Island; a fight that went on for decades until the Tabaxi seemingly disappeared. Folk there used to believe the Tabaxi had turned into spirits of vengeance, but newer sightings have proven they still roam the Isle. The Elves, however, are so embroidered in their current state that they do not particularly seek them out; most have forgotten that old rivalry.
