History
Arc 1: Ascension
On march 29 1243 five members of the Heroes' Guild were called to the office of Headmaster Fenwyn. Alleria, a high elven priestess from a distant land who has come to the guild to help guide its members, Brakathar, a dwarven druid who had only recently arrived at the guild, Mordrack, a dragonborn mage who uses his magic to enhance his weapons and Ub, a goblin who arrived at the guild, aspiring to become a great hero. Zariel was a half-elven warrior, cocky and arrogant, but kind hearted. Master Fenyn told them he believed that they are ready for their tests to become full members of the guild. They were lead to a dungeon with rooms dedicated to the three heroic disciplines: Courage, Finesse and Mind. In these rooms they withstood several tests. Along the way Zariel was shut off from the group. After completing all the test they heroes were brought back to Fenwyn an became formal members of the Heroes' Guild. They even got assigned to their first quest and left for their destination, Dargan, the next day. Upon their arrival in Dargan the group was shown little of a welcome. As they entered the tavern, looking for leads to start their investigation, they were given suspicious looks by the locals. Mordrack and Ub used their intimidating appearance to get the barkeep to share some information. He continued to tell them about the missing children: Olaf, Anna, Elsa and Christof. Later that evening Alleria attempted a kinder approach and learned that a strange man had been in town, days before the children's disappearance. Ub catched rumors about old mister Talden, who died a day before the children went missing. Ub decided to investigate the village graveyard and met with the local Priest. He asked some questions about the death of mister Talden and learned that he died a most unusual and unexplainable death. At night, when the villagers were all in bed, Ub, Mordrack and Brakathar decided to open Talden's grave and investigate his wounds. They found that something pushed his eyeballs out, from inside his head, as well as burn wounds on his chin and inside his eye sockets. Mordrack consulted his demon patron about this, who told him that is old, long forgotten magic, from far away. The next day the group split up to talk to the parents of the missing children. All parents told the same story: the children went to bed and the next day they were gone. No sign of forced entry or struggle. In each room they found burn marks similar to those on Talden's chin. They asked Bryn, Anna's father and Talden's son, if they could investigate his father's house and found the same burn marks again. Bryn told them that his father also owned a cabin in the forest, but hadn't been there in years. The group asked if they could see the cabin and Bryn agreed. Later that day they learned that the keys to the cabin had been stolen. They hurried to the cabin and found that it was empty and abandoned. Brakathar found strange mushrooms covering the outer back wall of the cabin and warned the rest that something is up. Inside the cabin were some loose floorboards. Ub broke some to reveal a stone stairwell leading down into darkness. The stairwell led down into a dungeon where they encountered corrupted and mutated humanoids. After going down several levels they entered a cave system where they found an old man and the missing children. The old man quickly disappeared by magical means and they defeated the monsters in the cave. Finally they were able to bring the children above ground. Back above ground they group found themselves in some sort of alternate dimension, covered in a mysterious fog and darkness. As they approached Dargan the children ran off into the fog and disappeared. When they entered the village everything seemed abandoned. They checked out the tavern where they found a book in their room. The book told the story of Svarog the Soulless and contained a list of ten. Some names were crossed off, and one of the names was Darostan which the heroes recognised as one of the masters of the Heroes' Guild. Then the church bells started ringing. They headed to the church and found the people fo the village and the priest about to offer the children. They tried to stop the ritual and the situation quickly escalated. In the end they killed the priest with his ceremonial dagger and were transported back to the "real" Dargan. At first everything seemed fine. The children were with the group in the church and the priest was there too. But within seconds a blood stain appeared on his chest and the priest collapsed. The Heroes were accused of the murder of the priest of Dargan. Count Meiry II wanted to hear them out, but an old wizard testified against them. They were found guilty of the murder after a short and unfair trial and arrested. They resisted and fought their way out. Outside Meiry II told them he could not hold them here and that they were free to leave to avoid further damage to his town and its people. The Heroes returned to the Guild. On their way back to the Heroes Guild the heroes heard a scream from the woods. They decided to investigate and headed into the forest. The further they explored the darker and foggier their surroundings got. Eventually they came across a giant beast, mimicking the sound of a girl in distress. They were attacked and quickly ambushes by an evil spirit, capable of knocking out most of the party with their wail. Eventually the heroes defeated both monsters, who both resembled the mutated creatures they found in the mysterious dungeon, and left the forest. When the heroes arrived back at the guild they were welcomed by Charn who asked them how their first official quest went. The heroes were honest about what happened and Charn, surprised by what happened led them to Headmaster Fenwyn. There they explained what happened in more detail. Fenwyn was mostly concerned, but Charn was outraged by what happened. After questioning the heroes about what happened for a while Fenwyn told them to get some rest. Brakathar checked up on Charn and they engaged in a practice match. Charn did not hold back and with a handful of strong blows strikes defeated Brakathar, giving the dwarf no chance to defend himself. Ub sought out Kaelin to ask her about necromancy and how it is viewed in the world. Kaelin reminded him that they had gone over this before, and asked if there was anything Ub would like to tell her, but Ub kept his business to himself. The next day the Heroes woke up to some upheaval outside. At the doorstep were 6 knights and 12 knights demanding that the Heroes' Guild handed over the Murderers of Dargan. Outside Charn was verbally abusing the knights while members of the guild were enjoying the spectacle. Kaelin spotted the group and told them to keep out of sight. Alleria and Mordrack decided to inform Fenwyn and asked him to come down. In the Headmaster's office they saw him discussing something with Darostan. He asked for a little more time to finish up their conversation and a few minutes later he arrived at the scene at the entrance. Kaelin told the group to retreat to their chambers and wait until they were called for again, but Alleria decided to linger for a bit and listened to what's happening outside. Fenwyn spent the first couple of minutes calming Charn, before finally addressing the knights and their men, hoping to come to an agreement. By the end of the day Fenwyn got the knights agree to let the heroes stand trial in Twyrif. He asked the group if they agreed and if they would accept whatever the outcome would be. Everyone agreed, but Mordrack said he would only accept if there was no foul play. If there was he would not face punishment, but promised that, if it came to that he would break with the guild to not harm its reputation. Darostan was send to Dargan to investigate and find any leads. The next day the heroes were called to Fenwyn's office and together with Kaelin they discussed everything that happened in Dargan. Kaelin confirmed that there is reason to believe there are different dimensions or planes of existence. When the heroes mentioned that they found a list with Darostan's name on it Fenwyn seemed uneasy. When they finished up their conversation Mordrack asked about it and Fenwyn revealed that Darostan had also been in the shadow dimension before he came to the guild. Until now he had hoped it was an unrelated incident. Mordrack feared it may have been a mistake to send Darostan to Dargan on his own, and together with Brakathar went after him to make sure he didn't bail. Later that day they found Darostan on his way back to the guild. He told the heroes that he hadn't found any information. By nightfall they arrived back at the guild. After a short brief with Fenwyn everyone decided to go to bed. Around midnight someone came visiting Ub's bedroom. After opening the door Ub stood face to face with Alfred Grayskin, a fellow guild member. Alfred expressed appreciation for Ub and asked if Ub would train him in necromancy. Ub quickly sent him off with empty promises. The next day the group joined the guild masters and together they left for Twyrif. After a short journey they arrived at the city and were lead to the Hall of Justice. Fenwyn told them what the trial would look like and made sure the heroes were prepared for what was to come. The trial itself went flawlessly. Fenwyn, Kaelin, Charn and Darostan all managed to impressed the Council of Twyrif and finally the Heroes all made very convincing arguments. Only Alleria failed to make a compelling argument, but overal it didn't hinder the group. As a formality the council retreated to discuss their verdict and the Meiry II was angered by their decision and left Twyrif in a rage. In the evening Alleria and Ub went for a stroll around the city. Mordrack and Brakathar headed for the tavern where they joined Charn and Darostan and drank until the late hours. Fenwyn and Kaelin left around midnight and told to group to relax for a bit. After celebrating the result of their trial everyone celebrated until the late hours. The next day Charn and Darostan returned back to the guild, but left a reward of 2000gp for the party. They decided to go shopping in Twyrif. In the city of Twyrif the Champions were ordered to meet with the leader of the Merchants' Guild. They also received a message to come to the Slums at night. Alleria and Brakathar went to meet with the leader of the Merchants' Guild, Symber Ergold, who asked them to investigate a gambling house in the Slums, offering protection in case the situation escalates. However, Alleria and Brakathar decided not to get involved in the politics of Twyrif after just coming back from the trial. Symber expressed his displeasure, but allowed them to leave without pressuring them further. Mordrack and Ub headed to the Slums that night where they were greeted by several members on the Whisper Guild. They mentioned that they noticed the Champions during the trial and offered them a job. It was to be a simple job as glorified bouncers at one of their organisations. Mordrack and Ub were suspicious and rejected. Jared, the leader of this group of Whisperers, tried to convince them, but eventually let them go, telling them that it's better to have the Whisper Guild as friend than foe.Arc 2: The Old Ones
Some time passed since the Champions were in Twyrif. A lot changed since then. The small border dispute in the south turned into a all out war between Rasfadal and Burbry. At the Heroes' Guild the Champions were called to Headmaster Fenwyn's office, where they were greeted by Fenwyn and Masters Kaelin and Darostan. The two explained to the Champions that they found new leads connected to Svarog the Soulless., Kaelin explaied that her studies led her to believe that they might be able to enter the Parallel in the Feylin Forest, a mystical place where the veils between dimension are thinnest. The Champion set out on a two week journey to the forest, along with Kaelin and Darostan. Upon arriving at the village they met a guide, named Padrig, who agreed to lead them into the forest. Padrig was an odd fellow with a peculiar interest in the faerie kind, and the group was unsure if he was to be trusted, but they had no other choice so they decided to follow him. He led them to a path that led into the forest, constructed of large, black and white tiles laid out in a checkered pattern. So long as they wouldn't stray off the path they should be alright. They set out into the forest. The following moment they found themselves in a clearing, deep in the forest. It appeared as if they had set up camp earlier and they were out of rations. None of them had any memory of how they got there. The decided to follow their own tracks, hoping to find out where they came from and how they got there, but their track split, leading to even more confusion. Retracing their steps, the Champions are led to a ruined castle, thick clouds of fogs gathered inside. They decided to enter, and soon heard hissing noises and spotted movement in the fog. They decided to follow the noises, which led them further into the castle. There they encountered a giant snake-like creature with a human face, telling them to leave this place and that the knowledge hidden here was forbidden to anyone. They managed to defeat the snake, but soon found out they were not alone in here. They heard more hissig noises from the fog, and chanting voices. They decided to leave, but found the ruins surrounded by bottomless depths and steep cliffs. They were trapped. They decided to investigate the castle, still haunted by the noises and chanting. Eventually they found a loose slab in the floor and managed to remove it, reveiling a stairwell leading down. After their haunting encounter in the castle ruins the Champions headed down the stairwell which lead them deep below the surface, until it opened up in a large cave system. The Champions explored the caverns, which as full of stalacmites and stalagtites. They heard running water in the distance and decided to attempt to find it. After entering the caves below the ruins they eventually found a stream, in which they found odd fish; small squid-like fish creatures. Ub decided to try and grab one of these fishes, but as soon as he touched the water he received a vision. In this vision he was standing on a beach, looking out at sea. In the distance he saw what looked like a large barrier or arcane energy. Behind the barrier were creatures, larger than anything he had seen in his life. The beings were large enough to swallow mountains whole. They were continuously crashing into the barrier, and slowly but surely it started to give. When Ub came by, he used his Mage Hand to grab one of the fishes and slab it to death, after which he heard a voice in his head: "Ub, what are you doing with my children?" Unsettled Ub started feeling paranoid. After exploring further they encountered a floating creature, similar to the fish they saw in the stream. It attacked the party. A fight broke out in which Alleria nearly died, but they managed to defeat the unearthly mmonster. After exploring further they encountered what looked like a large facade carved out of the dungeon wall with tall doors. Brakathar used his knowledge of Dwarven Stoneworking to open the doors. Behind the doors were stairs, leading down even further. The doors in the cave opened to stairs that led the Champions down. It seemed to wind down endlessly until it ended at a large stone door with tentacles carved on it. Suspicious of the situation they decided to back track. Ub went back up the stairs, but never reached the castle. It seemed like there was no longer a way back. he decided to head back down again, only to find he was hardly out of sight of the rest of the party. They agreed that they had no other choice but to proceed and entered through the doors. Behind the doors they found what looked like an entrance hall of a castle, though it seemed like it was abandoned long ago. Furniture was covered in a thick layer of dust and painting on the wall showed humanoid figures without faces. The Champions explored the castle, where they found that the previous inhabitants were turned into undead creatures with an insatiable hunger for flesh. They fought their way through the monsters, searching for keys, and opening new areas of the castle. During their explorations, Alleria found a room with a wall covered in crawling goo. She decided to shoot a Guiding Bolt at it, hoping to clear the wall. instead, it opened some sort of portal, through which Alleria saw a horrific creature. It's collosal body was carried by seven crooked legs of black-ish flesh, and each leg was covered in countless eyes. All at once the eyes focussed on Alleria, after which the portal closed. Alleria asked the rest to investigate further, but they were unable to open the portal again. Eventually they found what once was the dining hall. Several corpses leaned forwards over the table with their faces in their rotten, maggot infested food. Upon further inspection the maggots turned out to be tiny tentacles crawling over the food and the corpses. As the Champions investigated the room the corpses animated, with countless tiny tentacles crawling over their bodies. As they clawed at the Champions the tentacles jumped onto the Champions and penetrated their skin, directly eating away at their mind and soul. Each Champion desparately tried to get these tentacles off their skin, but Brakathar ignored them, fiercely attacking the undead. When one of the undead struck a blow to Brakathar that knocked him out. His mind, which was chipped away at by the tentacles, was unable to cling to his body, and he died. Still distraught from Brakathar's death, the Champions continued exploring the castle. Not much later they encountered a half-orc called Rakarashkar, who was tracking down Brakathar for stealing a horn from his tribe. Rakarashkar wanted to find his own way out, but soon realized he would need to work together with the Champions to get back home. After defeating the stone golems protecting the keep they found aother adventurer: a wood-elf called Mea, who had no memory of how he got in this castle. Together they continued searching for a way out, and eventually they found their way to the upper levels, which lead them to the throne room. In the Throne room they found a giant skeletal husk of the old king of the castle, paranoid and demented. With smooth talk and kind words they managed to distract the King enough to find a final key they needed to open the final door. Behind the door they expected to find stairs leading back to the surface, but instead they found themselves on a castle roof, dispite previously haven descended numerous stairs deep below the surface. The roof look out over a vast landscape covered in shadows and dreadful shapes. Giant creatures roamed through the foggy fields surrounding the castle. Several living human were tied up to stakes around the roofs, and on the opposite side stood a hooded figure in black robes. Svarog the Soulless. Svarog told them about the Great Old Ones, beings that existed long before time. When the Gods were born the Great Old Ones were imprisoned, and all knowledge of them destroyed, rendering them powerless. Svarog was found by a cult of the Great Old Ones and tasked with spreading knowledge of these old beings to bring them back to power. Many years he had been working towards this goal, but then these Champions of the Heroes' Guild came and thwarted his plans. Now he brought them here to destroy them once and for all. Mordrack found some sense in Svarog's words, who appealed to his lust for the power needed to avenge his village. When Mordrack was about to side with Svarog Ub attacked and a fight broke out. Svarog had many trocks up his sleeve, and managed to render several of the Champions unconsious. By the end of the battle Alleria and Ub were unconsious and barely clinging to life. Mordrack decided to try and stabilize Alleria, but as he was trying to save her Ub drew his last breath, dying in the battle again Svarog. Fueled by a desire to avenge their friend the Champions attacked Svarog and defeated him. He fell apart into countless tiny tentacles, and Mea squished them all, ensuring Svarog could never return. The next moment they found themselves on the checkered path in the Feylin Forest, following their guide Padrig, and followed by Kaelin and Darostan. The Champions appeared disheveled and distraught; Brakathar and Ub were nowhere to be seen. Further down the path stood Rakarashakar and Mea. No time appeared to have passed since they entered the forest. Unbeknown to the rest of them a tiny tentacle crawled off the checkered path.Arc 3: Corruption in Twyrif
Back at the Heroes' Guild they were introduced to a new member, a former Witch-Hunter called Janek. Mea and Rakarashkar were offered to join the Guild for the time being. Headmaster Fenwyn ordered the Champions to stay at the Guild and take a week of rest. Master Charn was still fighting in the War of the Vale, Master Darostan retreated to his chambers and focused on teaching, avoiding the Champions. Whever they tried to reach out to him he told them to let it rest, as the Headmaster told them. Master Kaelin attempts to guide the Champions and keep an eye on them, though Headmaster Fenwyn ordered her not to share too much information. The Headmaster himself locked himself away in the library, and after two day he left the Guild to search for the Magrave of the Great Vale, who retreated to the capital with the armies of Fendal. At the guild, the Champions found out about several missing person cases in The Slums in Twyrif. They all seemed to be connected. Even though Headmaster Fenwyn ordered them to stay at the guild, they decided to create a distraction and leave the Guild, headed for the city of Twyrif. After arriving in Twyrif the Champions started asking around. They started with visiting and antiquarian near the Slums. They had been there before, and were welcomed with little warmth. They were told to wait, by one of the staff, and eventually were able to talk to the shop owner. He gracefully refused to give the party any useful information, only spilling that “their kind had it coming”. After that the man shut down and it became clear that they wouldn’t get any more information from this man. They headed to the blacksmith next, another place that they had visited before. The blacksmith responded with unease, as he remembered their previous encounter and hoped to get them out of his shop quickly. The Champions started interrogating him about the missing person in the Slums, but the was unable, or maybe unwilling to let loose anything. After harassing the man for longer than a decent Hero would, they left him. They started to realize that people weren’t so willing to share their knowledge with them, and something might be off about this. The only lead they had was that almost all the missing persons were shop owners, and they decided to head to the Merchants’ Guild to around. As they entered the Merchants’ Guild they were received by a kind butler, who told them to wait as he would call for someone to receive them. Mea decided he didn’t want to wait and instead walked through the entrance hall and started exploring the Guild House, searching for the Guild Master’s office. They eventually reached it and were told not to enter, but didn’t heed the warning. They entered the office and directly asked the Guild Master what he knew about the missing person cases. The Guild master was secretive and seeming like he was choosing his words very carefully. All their questions were answered with fake sympathies and insincere wishes. In the end he told them to head to the Barracks of the Golden Bascinet, the local law enforcement. He would make sure that their Captain would cooperate with them. When they arrived at the Barrack they met Fredric Fyld, an old man with gray hair and a scar on his eye. He seemed highly unimpressed with the Champions, but he told them he received orders to let them investigate in the Slums. Reluctantly he handed them over some details about the most recent cases, telling them to get out and keep their nose out of other peoples business. After being handed the details about the crime scenes, the group decided to spend the night in the tavern. The next day they headed out into the Slums and started investigating the crime scenes. The first crime scene was boarded shut, and appeared to have been some sort of clothing shop. After entering they found some bookkeeping that suggested the store had only been open for about a month and a half. Rakarashkar also found a box with a hollow bottom filled with gold. The Champions suspected the shop owner might not have been acting fully within the law. They went outside and spotted a man quickly closing the curtains. They kocked on the man's door and he didn't want to speak to them. Mea broke in the door and demanded the man told them what he knew or saw. He explained that he saw people dragging out something large and heavy a couple of days ago. The party assumed it was the body of the missing man. At the second crime scene they found what might have been foodstore. The windows were broken and all that was left was soem rotten fruit. In the middle of the shop was a large pool of blood and the woman who owned this shop was murdered. Mea and Mordrack were investigating the backroom of the shop where they found a large struggle had taken place. After some research Mea found out that the murderer or murderers were looking for a stash, managed to find it and left. Mordrack realised that the walls of these buildings were very thin and some neighbours might have heard the struggle. The group went to the house next to the shop where and old man lived. He was reluctant to speak to them and seemed nervous, continuously looking around. When asked what he was looking for he explained that "they" are always watching and he didn't want to get involved in any of this. When asked who "they" were, the man put a finger in front of his lips. The Champions realized that he was talking about the Whisper Guild, a criminal organization in Twyrif. The left for a nearby tavern to find out how they could contact these Whisperers. Janek approached the barkeep who told them that they simply needed to cause some commotion and the Whispers would find them soon enough. Janek nodded and immediately punched the man. One of the patrons responded by punching Janek, who was knocked back and craashed in another couple's table. A bar fight ensued. As this happened, two figures entered the tavern; a giant red dragonborn and a tall man from the Witch-hunters Guild. The tavern brawl, initiated by Janek, escalated quickly and it wasn't long before the other party members got involved in the fight. Janek was knocked unconscious immediately while the rest of the party dealt with the brawling patrons. After a few minutes order was restored and the party went back to their table. Janek was kicked out of the tavern for his actions. As the party sat and enjoyed their drinks Mordrack noticed the two characters that had entered during the brawl. They were sat across the common room from them. The large red dragon born and human witch hunter seemed to mind their own business, but Mordrack recognised the dragonborn. Long ago Mordrack's clan was brutally murdered, and Mordrack was the only survivor through sheer luck and a pact made with an evil deity. Mordrack had been on a quest for vengeance ever since. Mordrack informed the rest of the party about these figures. Eventually the two figures noticed the party looking at them and grinned back at them. This triggered a response from Mea, who approached them and asked them about their business. The two were very secretive and showed little interest in Mea or the group. Eventually they left the tavern, stopping by the party and telling them not to stick their nose in other peoples business. The group got suspiscious, and thought they might be involved with the Whisper Guild. Mordrack decided to track them in bat form. The two meandered through the Slums as Mordrack kept close behind, until they came to an alley, where they briefly stopped. Eventually they met with a hooded man, and seemed to discuss something, though Mordrack was unable to hear what they were talking about. Eventually everyone left and mordrack returned to inform the group what he had found. The group decided to investigate the alley. As they approached they found Gared, a member of the Whisper Guild that Mordrack had met earlier. Jared told them to stop getting involved in the missing person's cases and offered them some gold to keep quiet. The group wanted to know what was going on, but Jared refused to answer. Eventually Mordrack took the gold, though he didn't explicitly say he agreed to Jared's terms. Jared then left the alley. Mea had been lurking from the roofs and noticed there were archers located in strategic positions. He didn't want to let Jared escape and jumped him as he tried to leave, attempting to tackle him with his signature move: a dropkick. He failed, Jared dodged and put a sword on Mea's throat. He mumbeled, "hmmm, you couldn't let it go, could you?” After Mea's failed attempt to dropkick Jared, the party was attacked by Jared and his men; two archers on the roofs and several thrugs hidden in the alley. Meanwhile, Janek arrived at the scene. The fight was tough and challenging, but one by one the party managed to kill their assaillants. Finally the group engaged Jared, attempting to surround him and knock him out for questioning, but he used magic and escaped. The group stuck around for a little while hoping to learn more from their dead enemies. They searched their bodies, and found proof that they were members of the Whisper Guild, though they already figured as much. Suddenly they were alarmed by the clattering of armor down the alley. The group couldn't afford to be found at this scene and scattered. Mordrack took Alleria and mistystepped away into an abandoned building. Janek and Rakrashkar ran off to the tavern where they were staying and Mea used his Winged Boots to hover in the air. The moons were both new, making the night pitch dark and Mea hard to be spotted from the ground. Mea witnissed as Captain Fedryc Fyld, Captain of order of the Golden Bascinet, arrived at the scene, followed by two knights of the order and four city guards. The group stopped in the middle of alley, where Fedryc glanced around, seemingly unsurprised by what he saw. "Make sure they can't be identified," said Fedryc to the city guards, and quickly left of with the two knights. Mea followed Fedryc, who went to the Merchants' Guild and entered alone, leaving the two knights outside. mea suspected he went to the Grandmaster of the Merchants' Guild and hovered just outside the Grandmaster's window, where his suspiscions were confirmed. He tried to eavesdrop on the conversation, but couldn't make out much, except a few phrases. "They weren't their," said Fedryc, and the Grandmaster answered: "the will take care of it." Mea didn't know what to make of it, but it was clear that no one could be trusted. He went back to the tavern to meet with Janek and Rakarashkar. Mea headed to the tavern. He decided to play it carefully and sat away from Janet and Rakarashkar to avoid suspicion. He tried to see if they were followed. After haf an hour of watching the guards in the area he noticed there were an unusual amount of Golden Bascinets patrolling the streets. Even worse, they seemed to be patrolling around the tavern specifically. Mea and Rakarashkar started a bar fight to create a distraction and went upstairs to get Janek. Together they tried to escape through their room’s window. As they looked outside they noticed that the square in from of the inn was carefully watched by Golden Bascinets. They went to the back of the establishment and looked outside. The courtyard seemed to be watched by only two guards. Mea jumped out of the window, attempting his signature move once more and succeeded, knocking down one of the guards. Rakarashkar followed Mea’s lead and slammed down on one of the guards as well. Meanwhile Mordrack and Alleria were in still in the Slums. They tried to get back to the tavern unnoticed, and used thaumaturgy to distract some of the guards. As they got a better view of the area they realized there were more Golden Bascinets than usual in the Slums. They attempted to fly away, but Alleria got spotted. For a while they were chased by the guards and knights, but they managed to escape and reach the tavern. They waited outside to see if the coast was clear and noticed that the tavern was watched by knights of the Golden Bascinet. In the courtyard, Mea and Rakarashkar managed to knock out the guards, but the noise attracted other guards. Mea used his magic to escape with Rakarashkar unnoticed, just before two guards arrived at the scene. As they saw the unconscious guard they sounded the alarm, attracting even more men from the square. As this happened Mea, Rakrashkar and Janek fled to the East Gate, which was closed. Using Mea’s Winged Boots they managed to fly across the city walls unseen. The three took shelter behind a church outside the city and waited. Mordrack and Alleria noticed the guards heading into the courtyard which left only 1 guard guarding the tavern entrance. Alleria used a spell to blind him, allowing her and Mordrack to enter the tavern. Inside they realized their friends weren’t there and they decided it was time to leave the city. After a brief discussion they decided that the East Gate would be their best option. As they were flying Alleria was spotted once again. Mordrack decided to keep going and made his way across the city walls. Near the church he regrouped with the others. Alleria fell behind and was chased by knights and guards in the city streets. They managed to catch up to her and releasing volleys of arrows. Alleria attempted to avoid the arrows, lost he balance and crashed into the nearby buildings, lost consciousness and fell down into the streets where she was surrounded by guards.
