Session 09: The Village of Veryne
11Seymana, 1253 - 12 Seymana, 1253
The Heroes of Rasfadal have waited out the storm and with Lena's tracks lost have decided to move on to Veryne. The village is still half a day of travel away. Svarog has read about Veryne and knows of the dangers that lurk there: werewolves are a terrible plague in the area. The group decides to double time it to the village in the hopes to be safe there during the night.
They are about three hours away when they can see faint lights in the distance, the village is close now. However, they can also hear the howling of wolves, and possibly werewolves. Svarog insists that it is too dangerous to move any further and suggests that the group set up camp, but Igor and Sabrina want to keep moving. Along the way they are surprised by a werewolf jumping out of the bushes. They sacrifice Hermann the Donkey loose to distract the wolf and flee to the safety of the village. In the village Sabrina finds out more about the nature of werewolves as Igor mourns the loss of his donkey.
The next day Igor decides to have his sword silvered by Borden, the village's smith. The group will have to wait a day until Igor's sword is done. At the general store the group decides to purchase a new donkey and call it Hermann II. Igor decides to spend the day practicing his weapon skills and meets on of the members of the town militia, a young man names Joshua and invites him to have diner with the group that evening.
Svarog has a talk with the village elder, Harlan, and finds out that members of the same cult they encountered earlier are occasionally seen in the area. Harlan mentioned an old church to the east where the cultists most likely gather and suggests they stay away from it.
At the end of the day the group has diner with Joshua and during the conversation they invite him to come along with them on their travels. The boy is a bit reluctant but eager to see more of the world and decided the town can miss him for a day or two.
Just before the group heads off to bed the group is approaches by a woman begging them to find her husband and children who have been missing for over a day. The group agrees to that and they plan to set out the next day.
