Thring
At the confluence of the rivers Darlac and Thring lies the city of Thring. What started as a humble gathering of houses around a holy site quickly grew into one of the largest cities in the kingdom. Now it is famous for its healers and contains the largest temple in the kingdom.
Almost five centuries ago Fredric Lightbringer started construction on the Temple of Annaaru. Two decades later the monument would be finished and it quickly became known as a place of healing. Many people travelled to visit this new place and settled nearby. Fredric, and later the High Priest of Annaaru, assumed the role of caretaker over the people that lived near the temple. It did not take long for the High Priest to become a powerful in the region.
When the small settlement started attracting more people and grew in size, the Duke of Darnallan moved its capital to the new town. A small church on the island in the centre of the city was expanded and repurposed as the Ducal Palace, though the people of Thring had mixed feelings about this.
Ever since Darnallan took ownership over the city the dukes have struggled to gain any true influence over the city. In truth, most of the power still lies with the High Priest. This is painstakingly obvious by even looking at the city: the Ducal Palace sits on a small island while the Temple of Annaaru looms over it, high up on the cliffs.
