History
The first known action by The FoG, originally known as Eat Capitalist For Breakfasts, originated in early 2023 from a small group of Lawrence University undergrads in Appleton, Wisconsin. Ashamed with how quickly the state government was ready to sell pieces of the state to the highest bidder, the group made a midnight trip to Madison and attempted to chain the doors of the capital. They were arrested, and coined the phrase "Eat Capitalists For Breakfast" in any press they could.
Over time the phrase was repurposed as small skirmishes and disruptive vandalism were utilized by concerned citizens not wanting to see the U.S. chipped away by the savvy of corporations hungry for profit. The news media began referencing the attackers as part of the "ECFB" movement, likening it to Black Lives Matter or the Women's March. (The members of the referenced groups were not amused that they were being associated with a violent, erratic crime wave.)
Then one day, on reddit, a group was started called Fighters of Greed. Members of the forums would report on local protests and civil action against the rapidly forming corporate nations. Within a couple months, there was a significant potion of posters who were obviously part of ECFB actions. Estimates came in that anywhere from a third to half of the posters could be linked to criminal acts targeting either corporate nations of the forming of corporate nations.
The FoG name finally stuck in 2064, when a group of activists who were clearly linked to the subreddit hijacked an shipping truck owner by Amazon, Incorporated . Due to the hijackers unable to successfully hack the self-driving protocols of the shipping truck, it ultimately crashed in the middle of a small town, killing the hijackers and sixteen other individuals unfortunately also driving on the same road just outside of Phoenix, AZ. Amazon waited for the hijackers to be deemed posthumously at fault before paying for the funeral arrangements for the other sixteen victims, and in the end found a little more favor in the public for that attack.
From that point on, the authorities of targeted corporate nations would heavily peruse the FoG subreddit in order to intercept attacks and vandals. The news continually reported on thwarted actions by the ECFB. Anyone hoping to stay active and not imprisoned in stange, new prisons went underground.
2070 saw the return of actions, now under the name The Fighters of Greed. Authorities were frustrated to discover that reddit was no longer the main source of communication. The group now resorted to old contact methods, where one member would only know at most 4 other members, and never reveal more than that unless meeting for a plan involving a massive amount of people. Even then, members coordinate personal times of lulls and activity, and captured members admit that these patterns are developed to have active members try to be more active in times where logically one would pull away from obligations (birth of children, moving to new areas, starting new careers, etc.). Operating like this helps members have perfect alibis for when they are interrogated.
Currently, most reported attacks by FoG are made by small, targeted teams. Some report that there are indications that these strike teams are showing more skill and expertise when it comes to their tactics.
