The War of Red and Blue Poppies

"A friend of mine came running up as me and father were cutting into the bulbs of that years harvest. He didn't get close enough to talk, but shouted from the other side of the fence.
'There's gonna be a war!' he shouted, hoding up a news paper. I couldn't make out the writting from where we were standing, but I trusted his enthusiams as true. Without another word he ran off, further up the road to yell at our neighbors.
I didn't know what to think about the idea of war, I had only heard about it in stories, and thought the idea a mite dashing, but my father had a look of abject horror on his face.
