The Lost Mines - Chpt. 12: A white-robed stranger and gold canarys?
General Summary
Tarsahk 23rd 1486; Mid-Day
Around midday as the group was traveling close to the river, they noticed an older man, along with some small gold birds, sitting on a boulder. As the group approached, they could hear the man talking with the birds a little (the birds only tweeted). Cautiously, the group introduced themselves and the silver haired monk introduced himself as Leosin. The group talked with him for a bit, asking about who he is. Leosin told them that he is a monk, that he was taking a break from his pupils back in Berdusk. When questioned about the dragon symbols, Leosin responded that they are symbols of Silver Dragons, which represent good and light. They are representative of the virtues he tries to instills within his pupils. The group talked with Leosin about Thundertree, as he knew of it and that it was spellplagued by creatures since the eruption of Mt Hotenow. They then carried on and the group talked of the Cult of the Dragon. Leosin said that if he ever encountered any or gained information on them, that he would send word to the group. He asked where it would be best to contact them and the group said at the House of Knowledge in Neverwinter. They parted ways and the group continued back to Neverwinter. Tarsahk 23rd 1486; Late Evening
The group made their way into town, deciding to go to the Beached Leviathan for drinks and some food. The party was greeted by a shady and questionable atmosphere. Some people were playing cards, a few arm wrestling and yet a couple shady figures were in the back of the pub on their own. A surly woman, acting as the barmaid took their orders, bringing “Mister" a glass of “water” (rotgut vodka). I'll amused, “Mister” slid it away, presuming it was some liquor. Bree went and presumptuously sat down to start playing cards. She didn't do well, however she did try her hand at swapping some cards (successfully). Still, this did not help her as the people she played against got better draws of the cards. As for “Mister”, he was interested in the arm wrestling. He took on one of the bigger burlier guys there. He ended up winning against him, taking two silver. Afterwards, a small scrawny kid came up and wanted to wrestle the guy “Mister” just did. “Mister”, assuming the brawny dude would handedly win, bet silver on the scrawny dude, assuming that he would lose (so as to give the brawny man a chance to earn back a bit of coin). However, the scrawny kid, handedly beat the larger dude in one swift motion (the kid rolled a natural 20). Surprised, “Mister” took his winnings, then gave the kids a once-over. Discerning nothing outwardly magical or unnormal, he took his winnings. The group, once done, went back to their tables and ate their dinner. The group eventually retired to the House of Knowledge for the evening. Greeted by Basil, Bludgarm took her aside and briefly mentioned that Bree liked to tout herself as the “Goblin King” and to just go with it. Looking at Bludgarm, then briefly at Bree (in a puzzled manner), she agreed. She then took the group to their rooms on the first floor and Bludgarm went up to his room/study on the third floor. Tarsahk 24th 1486; Morning
The group, after a good night's rest, has congregated in the dining hall (think of Hogwarts dining hall, but not quite so big). Eating their breakfasts, they began their discussion of what to do with the day.
