A brush with disaster, business as usual
General Summary
The Deadpoint Drift | Vol 5 Issue 5
From the Desk of Jill Cannirunnipelt
The celebratory mood that ushered in Full Summer fell flat a few days later when the Culdarian Economic Exchange reported that The Thyme of Your Life's engine signal had been lost mere hours after its departure. This was tempered by a spark of hope—news the next morning that a wind stave came on-cycle somewhere on the hills of remote Little Dorbard.
After what I assume was some fast and furious paperwork, our resourceful CEE Overseer Graves Nemerlang commissioned the Dagger Squall's crew to retrieve the stricken crew of The Thyme of Your Life.
Newcomer Zoligg (I didn't catch a last name) and Zeeweed went with the Aquan Vorwash and returned with all lost parties, busted up ship included, on the afternoon of 5 Full Summer. Says shipwreckee and local chef Mo Noodles of the debacle, "It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times... oops that was a typo." Our readers may interpret that cryptic bit as they will.
Exploration bug undeterred
While this incident may have scrambled folks' speech, it certainly didn't quell the thirst for exploration. Soon after recovering, several of the adventurers got right back into the fray. Even some of our own townsfolk seem to have been bitten by the bug: Taylor Quikkly and Blue Bell became fast sailing friends, and they along with Golf of Juice, Zeeweed and Mo Noodles set course for Foxspint Isle—and made it back.
Mines, marshes and monsters
Many of us have heard tell of the old nameless mine located in Northern Foxspint, and our heroes say they've located the entrance! It lies deep in uncharted marshland, a path hard won by meticulous navigation and merciless steel. "We rumbled with some savage beasts," remarks Blue Bell. Indeed: oversized toads, beetle swarms and snakes that slither and fly alike—there are even reports of a hulking mass of demonic, living plantlife in these ghastly lands. But our brave crew pressed on. Here's what the others had to say:
"Never let Korvick lead the party." — Mo Noodles
"When in doubt, walk like a crab." — Zeeweed
"Will someone help me get pregnant?" — Golf of Juice
I may never understand the adventurers' strange phrasings, but it hardly matters if they continue to bring such prosperity and excitement to our little corner of Heirbrosse.
Population influx
On that note, it is will much excitement that the Deadpoint Drift announces that the first boat of immigrants from Port Tessalad is said to be on its way. Some two dozen folk have decided that there's more opportunity here than there, and we couldn't agree more.WANTED: Noodlemaster's Apprentice
Our strange spoken, stomach fillin', monk friend and adventurer Mo Noodles has generously offered his tutelage in the way of his people's cuisine. Please ask after him at The Kedge to learn more.
