What is DAHRE?
“Come on, it's a DAHRE! (Like a dare? Get it?)" - A popular DAHRE 'slogan' used amongst ex-contractors
The Dangerous Assignment and High-Risk Employment Agency, commonly known as The DAHRE Agency or simply DAHRE, is a recruitment agency that specializes in the fulfilment of high-risk and dangerous jobs. These are typically jobs that have a much higher risk of bodily harm, violent encounters, dangerous workplaces and environments, and an increased chance of on-the-job death.
DAHRE, as a company does not have the best track record for keeping their recruitments safe on the job, and is primarily concerned with meeting their quotes and completing whatever corporate contract they have accepted. DAHRE makes most of its money from these corporate contracts, where they agree to fill a certain number of jobs within the chosen sector on behalf of their corporate client in exchange for a nominal fee. These contracts usually come with caveats that dictate the corporate client receives an unfilled quota discount if the contract is not filled to within a single percental digital of the agreed upon number. This entices DAHRE to recklessly pursue and recruit as many people as possible regardless of their qualifications.
Most of this is commonly known amongst job seekers, however, DAHRE does pay fairly well and will rarely turn people down. In fact, they pride themselves on the fact that they will hire just about anyone, and boast that they can find the right job for any job seeker. So, despite their lacklustre reviews and poor safety reputation, DAHRE has become one of the largest recruiters in the Delta Space.
And even those job seekers that need convincing, DAHRE recruitment agents have become extremely persuasive and are often able to talk potential workers into accepting a job they had never intended on taking in the first place. These DAHRE recruitment agents are expert negotiators and typically leave people confused and signed on to firm and binding contracts before they know what hit them.
Common jobs include
Asteroid Belt Haulers, long-distance and remote freighting, and protection and guard personnel for remote satellites and private space station facilities. These jobs are typically remote and are often located in areas with high crime rates and/or pirate attacks, and are frequently far more dangerous than the usual gig in these already dangerous industries.
Common Jobs Recruited For
Asteroid Belt Hauler
Many Asteroid Belt Haulers work for the larger mining operations, especially when working for the unions up in the
Exon Authority's territory. These jobs while not overly pleasant or safe, are much safer than the Hauler work that DAHRE is looking to fill. DAHRE is often hired to fill Hauler positions for smaller, and frequently shady mining companies.
These positions are usually in remote and dangerous sectors of O.Sec F on the fringes of known space.
These Haulers are often crammed into tiny mining spheres, a fraction of the size of a standard facility elsewhere. Within these spheres, in which there is often only room for one or two people among the controls. The Hauler operators control the various nodes, cables, and drones required to conduct the asteroid mining from their cramped spaces.
These contractor operators face two major dangers that other Haulers don't. The first is the fact that these miniature Hauler spheres offer far less protection between them and the vacuum of space. If they are hit by an errant asteroid or struck by a ship's weapons it is very likely that the hull will breach and they will meet a swift demise.
The second major danger is something most Hauler operators are familiar with, pirates. But these small-time remote Haulers have far less protection available to them, if they are lucky DAHRE will also contract a protection ship or two but in most cases, the operators are left to fend for themselves. Which frequently does not go in their favour.
Long-distance Space Freighting
Space Freighting is likely the most common job in all of the Delta Space. These sorts of spaceship drivers litter the expanse of the Delta Space, and most of the time it is a run-of-the-mill job with little danger involved.
With ships running back and further along countless trade routes shipping everything the people of the galaxy could ever need.
However, there are certain trade routes that are far more dangerous than others and require an individual of sterner stuff in order to traverse them.
Or at least someone desperate enough to risk the job. These routes often take the drive through pirate and bandit-occupied territories, or through remote areas where little help could be attained if anything were to go wrong.
A small single or double-seated Asteroid Belt Hauler; these are significantly smaller than a standard size Hauler.
Summary
DAHRE is a corporate recruitment team who are tasked with finding new employees for jobs that have high-risk rates or high “turnarounds” aka people dying.
It is popular within the mining sector, and the long-distance trade and travel sector as these some of these jobs, especially in more remote areas, tend to be more dangerous for a variety of reasons.
Including increased chances of accidents exposing workers to dangerous environments, higher rate of pirate encounters, and an overall uptick in general workplace hazards and danger.

Recruitment Tactics
DAHRE uses a variety of incentivizing tactics in order to recruit individuals. Usually, these include things like small signing bonuses and hazard pay, though these are typically only paid out upon return from the completed job. This often does not happen due to the danger of the jobs being filled, and due to a clause in the contract payouts are not required to next of kin.
Outside of incentives tactis, their recruitment agents have been trained in conversion tactics and are easily able to dominate the conversation with a potential employee. Especially those potential contractors that seem unsure about taking on the job. The recruitment agents frequently leave contractors so confused that by the end of the conversation they have signed on to the job and barely realize it before it is too late.
