Callyope is a fairy mistress of music, the sacred spirit of the place that is called Callyope's Pool in the realm of the Fey Court. She plays a silver lute and a golden lyre and they say that her songs are so full of beauty and melancholy that mortal men, stumbling unawares into her realm may wake from a dream of rapture to find themselves grown old and grey, though they were but youths when they heard the first notes.
