Constant Solomon

Constant Solomon is the Earth Speaker in the year 3180 AF when the story of "A Gift from the Sea" takes place. As the leader of the Pax Helsporan he is responsible for the welfare of the emptying Earth and for its relationship with the Galactic Compact. He rose to the role of Earth Speaker at a remarkably young age, due in no small part to an exceptional gift for languages, a subtle negotiating mind and an ability to build bridges between competing political factions, all of whom preferred to see him as their leader ahead of one of their rivals.
