The North Western Myruthean Soil Fertility Project
The north western Myruthean soil fertility project was an attempt made late in the age of the Four Aerial Courts (between 2331 APC and 2340 APC) to improve agricultural yields on the ancient plains that stretch from the Eroveth mountains to the sea. This was the cradle of civilisation before the age of the Old Kingdoms and included the ruins of Pavol-Rag-Rag, but the land had suffered badly from the after effects of the Sundering and subequent climatic changes.
The project was a notorious failure which worsened conditions, leaving the ground dry and barren and hastening the process of desertification it was intended to reverse.
The recriminations and political fallout from the shutting down of the flagship project led to a signifcant shift in power between the Myruthean mages from Sunrock, who had been prominent independent members of the Society of Arcane Adepts and the ambitious members of the relatively new educational establishments of Tinturbean, the Institute of Magical Analytics and the Free Union of Magical Scholars whose stock rose simply because they were not associated with the whole publically embarassing debacle.
