Kohtil

Most people when they visit say something along the lines of 'it's so beautiful'. Of course it is! It's not like people call these islands 'Ostari's jewels' for nothing!
— a frustrated Kohrin
The southernmost region of Ostari is made up of Nisea and and the islands that surround it. These islands are known for their wide variety of plants and animals that cannot be found elsewhere in the known world. Natural resource exports from this area are highly valuable. Unsurprisingly, farming makes up the bulk of Kohtil's economy. It is the homeland of the Kohri people.

Geography

These islands are largely covered in dense jungles. Large canopy trees rise over a hundred feet tall and thick bushes fill in any other available spaces. Vines lazily hang off of trees and large brightly colored flowers are common. The air is very humid since it rains often.

Fauna & Flora

Kohtil has a wide variety of trees, bushes, vines, and flowers many of which are used in some fashion. Some of its most well known plants are bananas, sugar cane, and orchids. The animal life is no less diverse with asiae and non-asiae hooved animals, small mammals, lizards, snakes, and brightly coloured birds. Large cats, birds of prey, and some lizards are the most common apex predators.

Natural Resources

Kohtil may not have many actual jewels but our flowers, fruits, spices, and animals have all the same colours and are just as good.
— Rolah, Kohrin farmer

The lush forests provide plenty of lumber, medicinal plants, and flowers which can be used for dyes. The native plants provide plenty of different grains, vegetables, fruits, and spices. Cows, chickens, goats, bees, and some pigs are raised on the islands. A little stone, ore, and other geological resources are harvested from the earth but these are rare and farming is seen as much more profitable.

Tourism

With its warm climate and bright foliage, Kohtil is a very popular vacation spot. People travel from all over the world to marvel at the huge variety of plants and animals that inhabit the islands. In addition to enjoying their surroundings and the warm climate, many people come for the cuisine and unique natural resources. Hunting is another draw for tourists as many people come to Kohtil to hunt animals that can only be found there. The warm climate is thought to promote healing, causing any who are suffering from major injuries or illness and can afford the trip to flock to the islands.
