A dragon of moonlight, that embued the moon of Kios with its energy, creating Lyrium or so the story goes

Tenets of Faith

The Chantry believes that long ago, a dragon of blazing starlight absorbed the sun's energy shrouding the solar system in darkness. They believe that their god, a giant silver dragon named Selune battled this Sun Dragon until it was gravely wounded and fled to The Frozen Sea. Selune rested on a nearby moon, imbuing it with her essence, thus created of Lyrium. This event is known as The Battle of Celestial Bodies and is through to be fact by the Chantry.
