Dragon Blood
All types of Blood sorcery depend entirely on a supply of Dragon Blood—woe to anyone who has too much Draconic Lineage and attracts the notice of a Warlock. Unlike Arcaic Magic which must be studied or Eternal Insight which can be unlocked, sorcery is purely a familial trait. Either you're born with it or you're not.
Innate Blood Sorcery - True Dragons and their progeny are able to perform feats of magic at great cost to themselves. A sorcerer who wields the power of his heritage burns through his own constitution quickly. Overextending oneself can lead to severe hunger, thirst, dizziness, disorientation, coma, and even death. The powers that a sorcerer gains are often related or similar to their Dragon ancestors, however, aberrant traits and powers do arise.
Demonic Rituals - communicating with and summoning demons almost always requires a blood sacrifice. While nearly any blood will do for simple/low rituals, the most important rituals require blood of high quality.
Vampire Creation - Dragon Blood is needed during the vile act of reanimating corpses and turning them into nominally loyal blood-hungry monsters. While nearly any blood will fill a vampire's hunger, a strong draconic heritage makes a victim particularly appealing. The magic that flows through a sorcerer's veins greatly invigors the undead. One of the beneficial powers gained through Vampirism is Draconisense, which increases a vampire's ability to smell sweat, blood, and magic.
Dragon Bloodstones - it takes far more draconic blood to create a stone than its volume would indicate. The product of vile demonic rituals often involving the sacrifice of the victim, Dragon Bloodstones are illegal contraband in The Great Valley. The resulting semi-transparent stone resembles deep garnet veins and pools within an otherwise dark crystal.
Dragon Blood Stones are irregular in shape and cannot be worked by a jeweler. Under immense pressure, the stones can be broken to release the magic captive inside. If not properly contained or directed, this results in an explosion of magical destruction.
Several Dragon Bloodstones created after The Fall of Kyranos utilized the dead dragon's power to act as weapon of mass destruction. They were embedded into the three large rocks sent to destroy Akir by Zalthor, a Demonlord . This was the start of The Ashen Eclipse & The Infernal Deluge, the global catastrophe affecting all of Akir. The grisly gemstones greatly added to the devastating power of the impacts.
Oh Dragon Blood, what a perfect use of that prompt! Well done.
Thank you! I'm looking forward to writing about Ember and how she will use these sorcerous powers. :D
