The Astral Watchtower
Once a natural rock formation, this stone monolith has been carved into a large pyramid with impressive balcony levels giving a full view of the night sky in all directions. The Astral Watchtower serves as a stellar observatory for The Archivists. This temple is of cultural significance to all Dwarves living in the world of Akir, not just the neighboring city-states.
As solid as the stone, as boundless as Kaesta's dreams.
Temple Complex
The temple complex just to the south of The Astral Watchtower includes a library, an almanac store, a shrine dedicated to Arastoo, The Eternal Archivist, several gardens, and living quarters for The Archivists. The Star Library
The Archivists at The Astral Watchtower maintain meticulous records of the movements in the heavens. Dwarves believe that by studying The Cosmos they can better understand The Dreamer's intentions. In addition to watching the heavens for any divine inspiration or prophetic knowledge, The Archivists record and track weather patterns throughout the seasons and years. The Library is designed to appear as the Dwarves of The Great Valley imagine The Eternal Library to be. The most precious item stored at The Star Library is an original copy of The Dreamstone Codex carved from pure Cognizite Crystal. The Shrine to Arastoo
A simple bronze statue of a dwarf reading a book on a stone bench in the center of the ornamental garden represents The Eternal Archivist. It is said that somehow he reads even more than he writes. The Almanac Store
The Archivists sell an annually printed practical agricultural guide. The Archivists Almanac contains useful information for the farmers within The Great Valley. Their calendars include optimal dates for planting, expected harvest conditions, festival holidays, and upcoming important regional events. The Archivists depend on the yearly made by Door-To-Door Almanac Salesman, but they realize that this particular year is going to be a loss. There's worry about how to pay for supplies, but The Ashen Eclipse & The Infernal Deluge has made it impossible to offer any accurate agricultural advice or weather predictions.Of course, there is no Almanac for sale this year! How are we supposed to predict the weather in all of this mess?
What an incredible feat of engineering and architecture! Love that the place is so occupied by star-seekers and record-makers, although the poor Almanac writers during this war time must be so frustrated!
You are doing a great job! Keep creating; I believe in you!
