Storlick
Storlicks are abnormally large crabs. This may seem cut and dry, but they are actually quite interesting.
[Storlick
Storlicks are abnormally large crabs found in freshwater lakes or ponds, typically on the beach or nearby, but almost never inside the lakes. These creatures are colored green, typically, or muddy brown. They hide in the mud or dirt, disguising themselves as patches of grass or mud in the ground.
When prey nears, they sense by vibration, and are alerted. As prey approaches closer, it now shifts mildly, typically out of the notice of the ordinary person or animal. When it is close enough, it lunges, thrusting it's weight upon it's now victim, and rotates to begin it's meal.
Prey is typically anything that is meat. However, this is too uncommon to be considered it's primary source of food by some, and so some think that it sifts through the ground and finds nutrients that way. Others think that it's long periods of dormancy make the eating of prey that chances upon it feasible, and perhaps likely.
However, most sentient creatures typically spot the creature before it can begin it's feast. Jotunns especially have a sixth sense for finding these creatures, likely due to the fact they live in wet areas such as swamps, marshes, and occasionally jungles.
Storlicks are a great source of meat. Their meat, having the delicious crab taste, is much more soft than a typical crab, and there is a lot of it. However, the danger of Storlicks makes this delicious meat a rare commodity.
To fight a Storlick, one must have a thin sword or a special tool, or a military fork. You must penetrate the weak points, all whilst dodging it's thrusts and it's claw. The danger is real, as the claw can snap a man in half like a thin twig. They weight kills you quickly, too. Storlick hunting is extremely dangerous for these reasons, however, the reward is delicious.
The armor of a Storlick is also powerful and light. The Storlick Skin, as it's called, is used as armor, but typically only as Lamellar, as it has little flexibility. It is thick and completely resistant to slashes, and resists blunt damage to some degree.
This creature is not to be confused with the Crissisite, the saltwater variant of this creature.
