The Schwitt Civil War
The Trigger: Princess Madelia Schwitt fought a bloody civil war against her father, Galeo Schwitt over the thrown. The crowned prince, Ralon Schwitt died from sickness and the grief of losing a son caused the king to recluse himself. The king refused to declare his daughter his successor causing a divide within the family. When Madelia caught word that the nobles were trying to persuade Galeo to declare one of their children his successor, she gathered her allies and declared war on the king himself for the right to the throne.
The War: The great houses had to pick sides during this conflict, not doing so would make them an enemy of both sides. Most of the great houses sided with King Galeo, however, Princess Madelia had the support of the two largest and most powerful houses, House Leyson and House Rubén. Princess Madelia also had the support of the merchants, having made promises to give power to those without noble ties.
The Outcome: Princess Madelia Schwitt defeated her father in battle and claimed the thrown.
