The Leyson family is the most politically powerful of the great houses, second only to the royal family. The capitol of the Kingdom of Borough, although technically not part of any county, is located within Storhand county.

The Leyson family has the head, who makes much of the major decisions and the prime heir, who stands to inherit the position of head when the head of the family dies or retires. Each branch family has their own heads, however, they all take orders from the main family.

The Leyson family is often seen as the dogs of the queen. They have the third largest military force behind only the queen herself and the Bronzeford family. However, their blind loyalty to the queen and their proximity to the capitol have turned their own forces into somewhat of the queen's forces. They often back the queen, even without being asked.
In the Leyson's territory, Storhand County, it is a crime to speak ill of the queen or the nobility. However, although they have a large military force, they are not able to constantly patrol the entire territory and most town guards do not enforce this rule.
