Overlands
The central region west of the Watchtower Range and east of Mournloc.
Realizing that the Heart of Dark is still a source of fell power, Rhuon, with the counsel of the Ienule, asks for volunteers to stand watch over the Dark Lands in case the Dark Elder ever return. There are seven volunteers and they are invested as the Watcher (Vigilant) Lords to stand on the border with darkness.
Anger over the defeat and Aoife's continued antics with their warleaders, the elders gather together and make a decision to banish her from the town. When she learns of the edict, Aoife curses the elders and gathers her young son and their belongings. Together, with Nymaras, the mother and her children leave Ustal. With winter fast approaching and no sanctuary near, they are not expected to survive.
Nearly out of control, the highlander force is dragged south by Aoife towards Mourana. They loot and burn along the way. King Dyrad Keniran leads his forces out and attempts to flank the highlanders.
After several years of tasting each other's borders, the kingdoms of Monraven and Ceamar hovered on the cusp of violence. The final push came when two armed parties from the kingdoms sparked a skirmish near a copse of trees called Gilden Strand. By the next day, every man and woman capable of arming themselves had arrayed against each other. The two sides eyed each other over the field, with Gilden Strand in the middle, for over an hour as the sun rose in the sky.
While its origin remains unknown a single errant arrow was launched from one of the sides and trigged a mutual charge of and by the two mobs of combatants. It is said that King Dyrad of Monraven arrived an hour later with his best warriors and found a butchering that was hard on the eyes. The two forces had ground each other into the grass and soaked the dirt in their blood.
Some stories say that King Dyrad wept at the onset of the coming battles but scholars who have studied him scoff at this uncharacteristic emotion from the ambitious warlord.
Warriors from the Kingdom of Ceamar savage a number of Monraven villages indiscriminately slaying unarmed subjects of King Dyrad.
After a year of bitter skirmishing, King Dyrad reveals his full strength that has been husbanded over the past year against Ceamar. Within a few months, every settlement claimed by Ceamar has been burned out and the hillfort's walls torn down. The warlord of Ceamar is executed publicly by King Dyrad.
The battle known as the "Last Battle of the Keniri" finally ended the struggle between the Keniran brothers. It was the elder, Dioraich Keniran, who emerged bloody-handed with now the death of both his siblings on his hands. But he emerged victorious and Oirlach's followers fled into the outlying areas where they would regroup and continue to plague Dioraich's future attempts to become a king.
Traveling with an entourage to one of his fortifications, Dioraich Keniran, the would-be-King of Monraven, is ambushed by hidden archers from the trees. He and all of his retainers are slain. The sword, Iaghulth, is not found amongst the dead.
