Quivira's Battleband

Quivira's Battleband is the religion of Quivira, Goddess of Battle in the Expanse and one of the six Watching Gods of the Six-Seeing Eyes. Members of Quivira's Battleband, known as Virians, are common all across the Expanse.

Tenets of Faith

Quivira's Battleband has six basic tenets:
  • Wisdom. When you fight, let it be for good reason. Do not make enemies needlessly, do not spill blood worthlessly.
  • Courage. Do not shy away from battle. It is a necessary thing. Leave your wavering heart behind when you wade into war.
  • Power. Prepare yourself always for conflict, for it is an inevitable thing. An untrained body is a burden.
  • Protection. Fight to defend what is yours. Do not close your eyes and allow yourself to be stolen from.
  • Retribution. If conflict is brought to you unjustly, return it in kind. Your enemies must know the consequences of their actions.
  • Glory. In battle, win; win so completely that your enemy's spirit is crushed, leaving no room for retribution in their hearts.

Ethics

The Sin of a Useless Battle
Battles should be fought with good reason and purpose - they are the life blood of conflict. To wage war for foolish reasons or a useless purpose is to spit in the face of Quivira, and such engagements will surely result in defeat in the long run. Blood should not be spilt without due consideration.
The Virtue of Defiance
Insults to one's honor, character, or power should be met with defiance. A duel is often appropriate, but sometimes the threat of conflict is enough. Do not turn the other cheek, but rather raise the other fist.

Worship

Quivira is worshiped primarily through prayer, battle songs, and conflict. Some hone their skills against one another in mock battles, others engage in bloody hunts against powerful beasts, and others wisely choose not to fight. These, along with battle itself, are forms of worship for Quivira. The especially pious may join her holy order, and battle as chosen warriors.
