Hal's demeanor is serious and no-nonsense, and he runs his bail bonds operation by the books. He is slow to anger, but when pushed, he can become explosive and intimidating, causing even the toughest of criminals to quiver in fear.

Big Hal Bugsworth is a stout man with broad shoulders and a barrel chest, standing at around 6 feet tall. He has a rugged, weathered face with a thick black beard and piercing blue eyes. His hair is short and black, with hints of gray at the temples.
He wears a distinctive pilgrim black hat, which has become his trademark, and a black leather pirate's coat that falls just above his knees. The coat is adorned with silver buckles and buttons, adding a touch of style to his rugged appearance.
Hal walks with a noticeable limp, favoring his left leg, and carries a cane in his right hand. The cane has a silver handle shaped like a skull, giving off an intimidating vibe. The limp is due to an old injury to his right leg from a past fight, which has healed but left him with a slight gait.

Personal history

Hal Bugsworth was born and raised in Waterdeep. His father was a magistrate and his mother was a teacher. Growing up, Al was always interested in the criminal justice system and dreamed of becoming a magistrate like his father.
Hal joined the magistrate academy but was forced to leave due to an injury he sustained during a bar fight defending a friend. Feeling defeated, Al fell into a deep depression and began to spiral out of control. He started drinking heavily and getting into fights, which eventually led to him serving time in prison for assault.
While in prison, Hal found a new calling as a bail bondsman. He learned the ins and outs of the industry and honed his skills as a negotiator and mediator. Upon his release, he started his own bail bond business in Waterdeep and quickly became known as a tough but fair agent.
Despite his rough exterior, Hal has a soft spot for his clients and often goes above and beyond to help them out. He takes great pride in his work and always follows the letter of the law, even if it means going up against some of the more unsavory characters in the city.
