Local Landmarks and Important Buildings
Dharva's Mill: This small, unassuming watermill is the oldest structure in Greenest. Local folklore tells that Dharva Scatterheart herself built this mill, the cornerstone of the new community she was building.
Greenest Keep: This small keep, situated on a high hill overlooking the rest of the village, serves as a place of sanctuary for the people of Greenest in the event of enemy raids or sieges. The keep was constructed decades ago in the aftermath of a dark elf raid on the village, but since then the need has never arisen to seek shelter behind its high walls. Nevertheless, the keep is kept in sound condition, thanks in no small part to the meticulous attentions of the Greenest Keep's castellan, Escobert the Red.
Greenest Town Hall: The center of Greenest's local government. The village's town hall serves many functions, from courthouse to clubhouse. Townmaster Nighthill's office, where he is often found, is located at the Town Hall.
Townmaster's Residence: The home of Townmaster Nighthill. The Townmaster's Residence is a tidy manor that has traditionally served as the presiding townmaster's home since even the days of Dharva Scatterheart.
Inns and Taverns
Greenest's Best Taproom: Farmers and travelers thirsty for a drink are welcome in Greenest's Best Taproom, so long as they stay in the good graces of the tavern's owner and proprietor, Derek Greenbottle. Derek keeps some cots upstairs to provide passed-out drunks a night's rest, as well as a cheaper alternative for travelers whose budgets cannot afford the Green Rest Inn.
Green Rest Inn: The Whitfoot Family has owned and operated the Green Rest Inn for generations, providing comfortable rooms and beds to travelers. In addition to having rooms of varying quality and price, the Green Rest Inn also houses a small tavern, where customers may sip wine and enjoy fine food. Generally, though, the Whitfoots frown on rambunctious customers: those looking to heartily celebrate are best advised to go to Greenest's Best Taproom for that sort of thing.
Temples and Shrines
Sanctuary of Chauntea: This large, stone church is used both as a community gathering place and as a center for worshiping Chauntea, a goddess of agriculture. The sanctuary is tended to by a priestess of Chauntea named Erika Hornsby.
Shrine of Desna: This unattended statue at the base of a stony cliff (at the top of which sits Greenest Keep) depicts a kind woman with butterfly wings and stars in her eyes. At her feet rests a plain stone bowl, in which there are always a few coins and flowers. Travelers passing through Greenest commonly leave an offering to the goddess Desna here, hoping to buy some luck for the road.
