Dragonborn
Basic Information
Anatomy
Dragonborn look very much like dragons, standing erect in humanoid form, though they lack wings or a tail. The first Dragonborn had scales of vibrant hues, matching the colours of their dragon kin, but generations of interbreeding have created a more uniform appearance in most clans. The blood of a particular type of dragon runs very strong in some clans. These dragonborn often boast scales that more closely match those of their dragon ancestor - Bright Red, Green, Blue or White, lustrous Black and in some clans gleaming metallic Gold, Silver, Brass, Copper or Bronze. They are tall and strongly built often standing taller than most humans. Their hands and feet are strong talonlike claws with three fingers and a thumb on each hand.
The Chromatic Dragons vary in colour through all types with a roughly equal share for each colour. The Metallic dragonborn however, are mainly copper and bronze and while gold and silver aren’t uncommon they’re mainly found in the more magically aligned clans. Two toned dragonborn are incredibly rare and normally end up being prominent figures in society, masters of their trades. In a population of hundreds of thousands there are at most two dozen at any time.
Biological Traits
Some dragonborn have displayed resistances link to their ancestry thought most with varying degrees depending on the strength of the blood. Most dragonborn will see no benefit from this aside from needing less layers in the winter or handling the summer heats better but there are extraordinary dragonborn who have been known to walk through a burning inferno without suffering any ill effects!
Growth Rate & Stages
Young dragonborn grow quickly. They walk hours after hatching, attain size and development of a 10 year old human child by age 3 and reach adulthood by 15. At this point dragonborm enter Tarresh, a trial of varying nature which proves them a worth asset to their clan. After passing Tarresh they are considered an adult in the eyes of all.
