Hydra

A hydra is a dragon-like creature with anywhere from two to a hundred heads (depending on how many heads have already been cut off.) They have low intelligence and cannot speak. Both the poison they spit and their blood are incredibly acidic, melting away scales, flesh, and even bone. To kill a hydra, all heads must be destroyed simultaneously (through crushing, usually). Burning each neck stump the instant it is cut is an alternative strategy.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Hydra are four-legged bulky creatures, with long necks and arrow-tipped tails. Hydra initially only have two heads, but where each head is cut off, two more grow back in its place. Hydra have no wings, unlike their distant draconic cousins.

Genetics and Reproduction

Hydra reproduce via sexual reproduction.

Ecology and Habitats

Hydra typically live in dark or mountainous areas.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Hydras are carnivores, and can easily take down any prey they wish to eat. It is thought that the acidic saliva helps to hasten the breakdown of food, as well as preventing choking.
