• Symphonokinesis/Musical Attacks/Effects: Jared is a highly talented symphonokinetic. He can utilize his music to either directly attack people or cause a number of effects on them or himself, by playing just the right notes and songs, at varying volumes and frequencies. His abilities include, but are not necessarily limited to:
  • Attribute Manipulation: Jared can improve his or other people's physical attributes, such as:
    • Enhanced Healing Factor
    • Enhanced Reflexes
    • Enhanced Senses
    • Enhanced Speed
    • Enhanced Stamina
    • Enhanced Strength
  • Confusion Inducement: Jared can cause people to become confused and disoriented, making them bump into walls or see things that aren't there.
  • Emotional Inducement: Jared's music can forcibly induce a certain mood or emotion in people, including his favorites: happiness, contentment, and pleasure. The emotion induced depends on the song.
  • Energy Constructs/Instruments: All Jared's personal instruments, such as turntables, synthesizers and keyboards, are summoned constructs created entirely from energy. Each instrument is primarily black, with glowing energy highlights. The color of the energy can change depending on the current song Jared is playing, as well as his mood. It is through these instruments that Jared performs his magic.
  • Enslavement/Mind Control/Hypnosis: Jared can use his magic to hypnotize and/or mind control people. The larger number of people he tries to control, the weaker the trance is, and vice versa.
  • Healing Music: Jared can use his music to heal people, both emotionally and physically. The healing process won't work unless the target hears the entire song, however.
  • Instrument Proficiency: As a natural side-effect of his symphonokinetic ability, Jared is automatically proficient with all musical instruments, despite not having practiced with any of them. He can pick up an instrument and immediately know how to play it and become skilled at it.
  • Musical Manipulation: Jared can manipulate any music in any way he wants. This includes altering a song's pitch, notes, or tempo, or even changing the song entirely.
  • Organic Destruction: At extreme frequencies and volumes, internal tissue, muscles, bones and organs become damaged upon hearing Jared's music, and in some cases, their heart stops entirely or even explodes.
  • Paralysis Inducement: Jared can paralyze people with his music.
  • Physical Attacks: If all else fails, Jared can harness raw musical energy and use it as a physical weapon, such as swords, forcefields, shields, arrows, whips, chains, axes, etc. These weapons appear in the same glowing energy as his instruments' highlights.
  • Poison Inducement: Jared can quite literally make his music a lethal poison that slowly kills the target the longer they listen.
  • Sleep Inducement: Jared can perform lullabies to make his opponents fall asleep.
  • Targeting: Even if everyone can hear his music, Jared can pick his targets, only rendering his music's effects on them. To everyone else it either sounds like noise or music.

Personal history

Jared was born in Elestrea before the Great War. As a child, he displayed a notable talent for magic, primarily musical magic, or symphonokinesis. Jared's mother was accepting of his musical ability, but his father was not. His father insisted he focus on a career that would make the most sense financially, and magic didn't fit into that plan. Jared often rebelled against his father, running away into the depths of Elestrea to practice his magical ability. Tensions continued to rise between his father and Jared, and after a particularly bad argument, Jared ran away as he always did (he was 15 at the time, and the Great War had entered its beginning stages at this point.) After several hours, and on his way back home, Jared recieved an apology from his father via text message, stating that he and his mother had talked with each other. His father said that he only wanted Jared to be happy, because he himself, while not having any magical ability, had tried to make a career for himself in music, but ultimately resigned himself to office and accounting work. Thus, Jared's father didn't believe that there was a future for Jared if he continued with his symphonokinesis, but then said that Jared should follow his dreams, and be better than his father.
In disbelief, and with his eyes welling with tears, Jared ran as fast as he could to get home. But when he arrived, there was no home to return to: apparently, while Jared was away, a raid comprised of mainly dragons and elves had attacked Elestrea, and destroyed his home. Jared's parents' bodies were never recovered, and Jared was left with an overwhelming sense of grief and guilt, knowing he would never be able to truly make amends with his father, and left wondering if his father sent the apology because he knew he was about to die. With newfound determination and anger, Jared resolved to dedicate himself entirely to his music, in memory of his father, and in the hopes that he could succeed where his father had failed.
Jared tried not to stay in any one place in Elestrea for long, and as the ban on magic came into effect, he found himself constantly on the run from the authorities. However, he also, on one of his escapes, found a welcoming underground community of musicians and magicians alike, and now spends most of his time performing at underground raves and parties. At some point, Jared acquired a prototype cloaking fabric from the black market at the end of a rave - government technology which was illegal to own. Jared, understanding the potential, and thanking the dealer, immediately went about sewing the fabric into all of his clothes, especially his signature black hoodie. Over time he became known as "DJ Ghost", for his ability to miraculously disappear whenever the authorities came knocking to bust a rave or illegal gathering. His current whereabouts are unknown.
