The Kinnell Family

The Kinnell family was a powerful noble family mainly seated near the city of Blackpool that gained their status around three generations ago due to their previous status as a favored breeder of hunting dogs for several nobles as well as their hunting dogs saving a prince. Around five years ago, the head of the Kinnell household, Walther Kinnell, was revealed to have been secretly at the command of a bandit force, the Bloodpetals, that had been ravaging the area for the past two years and had been responsible for multiple kidnappings and a pair of deaths in addition to numerous robberies. Investigations determined that the majority of the family knew nothing of the scheme, but the full contents of the Kinnell coffers were seized regardless and the family kicked out of their manor to live in the poorer parts of town. Walther Kinnell was a mostly aloof father, paying little attention to his children, but his absence was felt by the family regardless. His wife, Gloria, had died six years before in childbirth. Walther's arrest left their five children to live with the housekeepers who had been employed by the family prior to their fall.   Nowadays, the most well-known Kinnell is Derrik Kinnell, a young man of twenty-two who resents the town for their actions against his family. He's known for his poor reputation with the town guard and his assumed tendency to pick pockets and start fights, though he's never been directly caught red-handed. The most well-known Kinnell within the family, however, is Victoria Kinnell, whose betrayal led to the discovery of the collaboration.   The Bloodpetals continue to operate independently, and many suspect continued Kinnell involvement despite the lack of evidence to suggest such.   A crystalline carnation (or one made of ice) is the symbol of the Kinnell family. Historically, carnations crafted from crystal were carried as a sign of association with the family, and ice sculptors would present larger-scale flowers at events hosted or sponsored by the family. Nowadays, few of these remain intact, as the family has little money to pay for such extravagance, and the flowers are easily broken.
