Tamayori-hime

Tamayori-hime is the daughter of the sea god, Unagami, sister to Toyotama-hime, and aunt to Kinoshita no Akihide.

Personal history

The second daughter of Unagami, Tamayori had a fondness for the humans, while her older sister saw them as a curiosity and playthings of which she soon became bored. When Toyotama gave birth to her son, she entrusted the newborn to Tamayori and instructed her to bring the infant to his father, Akihiko. Upon meeting the young emperor, she fell in love with him, yet knew she could never act upon her feelings for her sister's former lover, less she incur her sister's anger.
Tamayori decided to live amongst humans in southern Washū under the protection of Nakatomi Tomoe. In the year 560, her nephew was brought to her following the death of his father. She spent the next five years raising the boy until he left with Takeda Kagemasa.
