Gods Species in The Flying Flux | World Anvil

Gods

Everything you didn't want to know about them.

Though these beings are not technically born on Flux, they do occasionally meddle in its affairs just for fun. The creator (Chazos) himself has inadvertently fathered several creatures of immense power by simply walking on its surface. This is because gods are the universe's most powerful keepers of magic and science; gifted with mortality as well as the unenviable task of creating mortal worlds that will all eventually die.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Gods are almost all humanoids, though it's technically mankind that was made in the gods' image. A distinct upside-down triangle marks their godhood, though it's origin and meaning are still unknown (even to the gods).

Genetics and Reproduction

Gods are sometimes born when universes collapse and all its energy is localized into a single point. However, most of them just have sex, since most are similar to humans in both structure and function--including the reproductive system. This is not, however, where demigods come from; the half-gods arise during a rare phenomenon that involves a concentrated body of magic gaining sentience as a result of the Law of Perception.

Growth Rate & Stages

Gods are very specific creatures, so the aging process affects each one differently. For example, one goddess might appear younger than another by human standards, when in reality, it could be the other way around. This is because they age at different speeds then stop at different points in time, making absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Ecology and Habitats

God's are flaky, self-centered drunkards who wander the universe in search of any life that might evolve independent from their power and crush it. That is, all except Chazos and Prometheus, who've made their homes not far from the worlds they created, and often dabble in its affairs.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Gods do not require food, nor do they become hungry, but they will feast on empty worlds to become intoxicated. One god (by the name of Pollen) famously inhaled a supernova, then burped a wicked race known as the Oollio into existence. It was one of the only times since his birth that the boisterous god fell silent.

Biological Cycle

They are born, and never die. Nothing can kill a god, not even another god, which makes their numerous battles ultimately pointless. They bicker like children while mortality's greatest poets write songs and sonnets of terrible battles. The Ancient Greeks of Earth came closer than most other planets in the B reality, but even they were severely mistaken on many key points.
