Mount Hotenow (/ˈhoʊɛtɛˈnaʊ/ HOE-teh-NOW)

Mount Hotenow is a volcano amid the Crags mountain range, situated to the northeast of the city of Neverwinter on the Sword Coast North, deep in Neverwinter Wood. It is home to a large population of fire elementals that warm the Neverwinter River, that flows from it, to the point where it never freezes over, even in the heart of winter. Many citizens of Neverwinter believe this to be the reason behind the city's name. Despite this, the volcano was believed to be dormant for hundreds of years, until it erupted in 1417 DR, devastating nearby settlements, including the town of Thundertree.
