Academy Architect
Anastrianna Galanodel, being the mage she is, built and opens a school for mages in her hometown of Silverymoon. The Solo Story is about the building and establishing of that school, and all the conspiracies, intrigues, and dangers that went into it.
- First, she'd have to get to Silverymoon, which is a challenge but is not too difficult. She just has to travel the Evermoor Road, alone.
- Then she'd have to buy or build a school...but Silverymoon has become an insular place in the years since she left wandering and the Conclave does not want competition from a "...magical knight."
- Her school would face annexation at the hands of the Conclave, and a temptation to move the whole thing to Luskan at the hands of the Arcane Brotherhood. Finally the Zhentarim desperately want her and are willing to share thousands of years of magical knowledge.
- Then a mysterious note and an exhausted messenger appear. Life gets chaotic as freaking Zelifarn shows up and has demands on Anastriana. With a teleportation circle, and all three factions hounding her, she travels to Olga.
Plot points/Scenes
Part I
The Journey Home
Anastriana has to get to Silverymoon, which is a challenge but is not too difficult. She just has to travel the Evermoor Road, alone. Depending on which pace she sets and which spells are used the travel times vary from 13 to 33 days. Every day she travels there is a chance for an encounter that she must brave alone.
There will be an encounter with a Dragonclaw from The Cult of the Dragon and beyond that one, encounters are random. As she flies, and uses high speeds, encounters occur at Dusk or later and only after Ana has set up her camp. The Dragonclaw wants her share of Aurinax's Hoard, and is prepared to kill her to get it. Other encounters are just random. The majority of the trip is progress tracking, and noting a few special sites to visit later. After the encounter with the Dragonclaw, all bandits are instead Dragonclaws and Dragonwings.
Part II
A Warning or a Request?
A mysterious note and two exhausted messengers appear. The pirate has been tracking and chasing down Anastriana since she opened the Vault, but says for an Elf, she moves swiftly. The Mage is haughty and announces that he represents the Conclave, ordering her to go with him. The Pirate objects and the two argue. The note appears in her pocket as the mage and pirate are arguing, and its message is five simple, but bone-chilling, words:
If Anastriana can sense the magic, she has a chance to dispel the teleport trap that reading the note triggered. Otherwise she is teleported away. A student of history, Anastriana knows who Manshoon is and expects to meet someone using the reputation of the ancient mage to get things done. Nope. She is teleported to fricking Waterdeep and meets with the real, live, ancient master wizard himself - Manshoon the Masked.
Manshoon wants to share magical knowledge with her, and possibly contribute toward her dream of a school of magic. But she must first apprentice herself to him. Does she do it? Her first task: locate the twinned Crowns of Myrmorran. Manshoon's "associate" asked her to spy on Apryl Margaster and learn her intentions.
Part III
The Response
If Anastriana bypassed the teleport trap and went with the Mage, Anastrianna's school would face annexation at the hands of the Conclave, if she got them to allow the school to exist by going along with their demands. Or else once home Anastrianna would have to buy/build a school, but Silverymoon has become an insular place in the years since she left wandering and the Conclave does not want competition from a "...magical knight." And if Anastriana went with the Pirate, the Captains would make an egregiously high offer to tempt her to move the whole thing to Luskan at the hands of the Arcane Brotherhood - widely known in the wizarding world as crooks and villains. Finally Manshoon and the Zhentarim desperately want her and are willing to share thousands of years of magical knowledge, but want her to pass them information on her allies. With either ropes or ribbons, everyone wants to try and bind her dreams to their ambitions, so how does she respond?.
