You can use this book as a spellbook. In addition, when you use your Arcane Recovery feature, you can increase the number of spell slot levels you regain by 1.

History

Taken as a gift from Laeral Silverhand after the recovery of the gold in Dragon Heist!.

Significance

This is Anastriana's Spellbook, without it she is a sage but with it she is nearly unstoppable. Her knowledge of magic, the Weave of Mystra, and how this fundamental force works are inscribed herein. Her conversions of spells from formulae, words, and rote hand-mudras into the ancient fighting forms of Bladesinging are detailed in this tome, which allows her to apply its enchanted bonus to her spells while she prepares them. It is integral to her person and power and is not easily replaceable.

Raw materials & Components

The outer covers are created from hammered steel. The binding is a banded lodestone rod with evenly spaced bronze rings that are strangely ferro-magnetic. The sheets are exceedingly thin bronze-like material with a natural scaling pattern that forces spells to be etched in a certain type of rare acid and then inked with a special type of ink.

The ink used to inscribe the spells is made of a blend of quicksilver and few drops of Anastriana's own blood, using the first spell inscribed in the book: Moon Ink. The acid used to etch the illustrations is made of something Anastriana and Laeral have yet to identify and was delivered to them by Vajra Safahr who would not divulge where she got it.

Tools

The cover and pages have small draconic script and some unique artistic tooling depicting waves and the Sword Coast. The interior cover has a script that appears to be an archaic form of elven or sylvan lettering but it corresponds more to draconic grammar and aquan styling. It has yet to be deciphered.
