Caltox (a.k.a. Cal)

Hailing from Murann, a port city by Tarseth Bay, Caltox (Cal is perfect) is the son of one rich ship merchant. Though that condition allowed him to have no shortage of food and clothes growing up, he did lack proper structure at home - father would be at sea for months on end, and even back home be tyrannic and distant. Mom would comply, though resentfully, and be stone cold as well. While young, he resorted to reading and tinkering as an outlet for this frustration, making the best out of what trading can give - new materials and knowledge.
Once old enough, he packed his bags, took a few coins and left for the Snowflake Mountains, seeking the Spirit Soaring library-cathedral. The news of its destruction hadn't gotten to him. What he found instead was a group of aficionados such as himself dedicated to rebuilding this monument - while some designed the new structure and interiors and others gathered materials, he volunteered to wander the land, amassing knowledge and laying the foundation for a solid grid of research and development throughout the Forgotten Realms.
Thus he did. Hitchiking often, other times having to walk or skip a meal to pay for a ride or accomodation, he's managing, and learning all throughout.
Now fate has brought him to the High Forest.
