04:09 am - 07.03.2020This is the result of one of my many (mis)adventures. Long story short, I passed through Scornubel wishing to just spend the night and be on my way, but Bromthar Helmbrind, the head of the Red Shields mercenaries, went too far. Consumed by his paranoia of strangers, he proceeded to ask a lot of questions, pry around my stuff without permission and even take my book right out of my hand. I was mad. Now, I had drunk a LOT that night because of what happened before. So I mustered up some courage and... shit all over his front door. Sure, that's not the mature level-headed way to approach the situation. But am I proud of it? Heck yeah! After that rush of adrenaline and relief had passed and the guilty conscience settled in, I had an idea: the best way out of this hellhole is through. So I get inside the still-empty house and search through the drawers for some dirt on him. Needless to say it was a piece of cake. "Mercenaries turned into caravan protectors" is never a good idea: they were behind some of the mysterious attacks on valuables that they would heroically solve later, sending a scapegoat to rot in jail. The ruler was in on it too, so no way a one-man team could dismantle the business. I settled on blackmailing them for now and, for the most part, it worked. Got this neat little poster as a wanted man, but besides that, they had to let me go. The look on Brom's face was priceless!
