History
Under the leadership of Quandary Dingbud, the Abyss Assassins founded their own sovereign state in 44 ATC, resulting in the first historical records of the Assassins' existence. Accordingly, the Abyss Brotherhood was a far more recognized organization than the other Assassin branches. Not long thereafter, their sworn enemies followed suit by reinstating themselves as the Knights of the Cross and masquerading as a military order for the defense of Jaheb pilgrims.
During the tenure of Sylvar Vavaris the Younger, the Abyss Brotherhood expanded from the northern part of Vindictus into the East when a force under the Assassin later known as Vulluin Ulasatra was sent out to establish castles in the Mountains of Ragcaha, most notably Zuran. From then on, Zuran would serve as one of the principal bases of the Brotherhood, more or less autonomous from the other groups. Their feared presence in the region attracted multiple invasions by the Dark Elf Crusaders of Traeliorn Ianhice which all proved futile, and the state played a pivotal role in the times after the war, exerting much political influence through its assassination of key figures.
In that conflict, Sylvar Vavaris betrayed the Order by colluding with the Knights of the Golden Cross to seize the Book of Eden, having come to agree that a New World Order was the only solution for global peace. With the Book in hand, he then turned on his Knight allies by having his best agent, Rilitar Paqirelle, eliminate them one after another, but would ultimately be slain by Rilitar when his treachery was exposed.
The torch thereafter passed to Rilitar Paqirelle, under whose leadership, the Assassin Order was reformed, with new techniques created and archaic and authoritarian rules and customs undone. Using knowledge gained from the Book of Eden, the Abyss Brotherhood spread its teachings and influence across the four realms, in an effort to make the Assassin Order a more global organization.
With the Abyss Assassins becoming the forebearer to many other Assassin branches in the process.
