Magitech Circuits
Magitech circuits were created and patented by Goldweaver International 25 years ago. These circuits can conduct magical energy in ways that completely revolutionized the way magical energy could be conducted, directed, and manipulated. In previous eras, magical energies were conducted using sympathetic metals, which allowed for energy to jump from one to another through the air. Unfortunately, this process was inefficient, and led to a lot of energy being lost in the transfer. Magitech circuits (a general name for both magitech circuits, capacitors, conductors, and wires) were designed to counter this, dramatically reducing the energy lost between transmission between a source of magical energy and its destination.
Utility
Magitech is mainly used to power mechanical devices using Elemental Engines of varying sizes. Due to their incredible efficiency in transferring elemental energy, they increase the time an engine can sustain a device, as less power is lost each time it is used.
Recently, it has also been discovered that magitech circuits can be grafted onto living tissue and react to signals from the brain. This has allowed for the development of mechanical prosthetics that respond and function like living appendages. While this newly discovered use is still considered "off label" by Goldweaver, several artificers, doctors, and engineers have already begun creating such prosthetics to help those who have lost (or never had) various limbs and are in need of replacements. So far, this radical breakthrough has largely been confined to the lower classes of Skyhome.
Manufacturing
Goldweaver International keeps the process for creating these circuits extremely close to the chest, for they fear the recipe being discovered by an entity outside of the jurisdiction of Skyhome's patent office.
Social Impact
Magictech circuits are found in most modern ships, devices, and chariots or land-riders. Their ability to reduce energy waste makes them a must for any machine trying t stay competitive on the market. Likewise, their efficiency has broadened the possibility of functions for technology, as previous designs would be simply drain their Engines too fast to be useful.
Additionally, every day, talented artificers (both of the Soaring University and independent) discover new uses for the technology, broadening the possibilities of magical science.
Access & Availability
While magitech circuits are still a relatively new technology, their low cost to make (due to them being made of the relatively cheep and otherwise useless metal gold), along with the constant productioon from Goldweaver's personal factory on Skyhome, mean that they are widely available on most major and minor islands in the Skies that trade with Skyhome or its allies.
"Other than this, gold is useless anyway. It looks pretty, but that's about it. And they have rivers of the stuff on Molten Heart."
