New Beginnings

New Beginnings is an isolated little rock tucked away in the corner of the Fractured Skies. Uncolonized due to a lack of natural resources, it is widely regarded as a wet and barren chunk of grassy stone with little to no reason to visit. This made it the perfect place for the Children of Ehecatl to settle, as they were all but forgotten by the larger Skies, and allowed, for a time, to practice their peaceful ways.
All of that changed when the Children's leader was killed in a Steel Birds raid, destroying everything they spent years building and radicalizing the tribe. The tribe abandoned the island, and their current location is unknown.

Geography

New begginings is an average sized island, mostly oscillating between exposed rock, grassy hills, and deep crags. Though, the northern edge of the island is home to a small forest, and there is a small lake off the island's east side.

Ecosystem Cycles

The weather on New Beginnings is as predictable as it is wet; rain and fog are daily occurrences. Grey skies are common, although when the clouds break the island is renowned for its spectacular rainbows. In the colder months, temperatures drop below freezing, briefly turning that rain to snow or hail. Youth is the only pleasant month, where the storms relent and actually grant some reasonable weather.

Natural Resources

There are a good deal of root vegetables growing across the island's surface, a ruminant of the island's brief inhabitation.

History

What remains of the village created by the Children of Ehecatl sits abandoned, stone huts empty, hearths sitting cold. It can be found next to the island's lake. Everything they could not take with them was left to rot. A second, smaller village can be found on the island's West side, where the remains of make-shift Sky-fishing vessels can be found rotting in the harbor. While several of the larger stone buildings still stand, most of the simple wooden dwellings have been burned down. 
Most surfaces are decorated with elaborate paintings of a great feathered serpent, the Serpent Rider interpretation of The Air Titan, Quatzequatel. Several of the murals or carvings in the main town have been vandalized, with black ink splashed across the serpent's eyes.

"You tried to live peacefully. You tired. And look what it has done. Your Queen is dead. Your Princess is dead. Peace is a lie the oppressor sells to you to keep you docile. No more. No more peace. No more holding back. We will take their ships. We will take their children. And once all is said and done, once we have avenged your Princess, they shall beg us to take their lives as well."
