Sky Islands

In the Fractured Skies, a majority of landmasses are chunks of earth which hover several hundred feet over the dead-lands below. The exact cause of this extraordinary geography is unknown, but it is believed that it is somehow connected to the Source Crystals which can be found on every island, and the Titans who brought about the current world order. Most islands have only one or two crystals, while few have three. The size, shape, and environment of each island is heavily influenced by the attunement of its Source Crystals. For example, an island with a earth attunement may be a desert, while an island with a water attunement may be a floating sphere of fresh water. In the Fractured Skies, there is only one known landmass which exists beyond the reach of the Nul Fog below, that being Ghor's Dagger, the tip of a massive mountain range which is otherwise submerged beneath the fog.
