Spellcasting in the Skies
Every living creature in the Fractured Skies has an Elemental Attunement, which grants them certain abilities and effects their development. One major way this manifests is in the nature of magic, which works slightly differently than in other D&D worlds.
Spellcasters in this world cast spells by shaping magical energy drawn from their connection to their element (represented mechanically by spell slots or spell points). This means that they can only cast spells that correspond to that element. Additionally, spells in the Skies are not restricted by a class list. Any class with spellcasting can learn any spell, so long as they have the proper spell slot, they can learn spells of the available levels.
The best way to think about this is like "Bending" from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Just as the benders controlled their elements, and each style of bending was unique, spellcasters in the Skies are tied to and master their native element.
For example, under normal circumstances, only a fire attuned individual could cast the third-level spell "Fireball". Returning to the ATLA example, it would be weird if a water bender like Katara started shooting flames like a fire bender.
But don't despair if your favourite spell doesn't match with your chosen element, because the clever spellcasters of the world have developed different ways to get around this limitation (So yes, you can play that Water Genasi wizard who casts Fireball every 3 minutes!).
The most readily available tool they use to do this are Elemental Foci, which expand the elements a spellcaster can use. For more information, see the dedicated page for this item.
Another option available only to sorcerers is the "Transmuted Spell" metamagic option found in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. With this feature, sorcerers are able to cast any spell that the option normally effects, so long they choose a damage type that aligns with their Elemental Attunement (at the shared discretion of the player and the DM).
A third option is to use magic stored in items or spell scrolls. Magic cast in this way draws its power from the imbued magic of the item, and does not rely on the caster's element.
Another exception comes with subclasses that have pre-built spells worked into features, such as domain spells. Some of these spells will not line up with your chosen element. In this case, treat them as mechanically identical to the original spell, but flavour the effect in such a way as to make it line up with your chosen element. If the contradiction between your element and your spells effect is too great, consult with your DM. They may allow you to trade the spell in for one that better fits with your character, or elsewise, allow your spell to function a little differently (fireball that does cold damage anyone?).

Spell Scrolls:
Unlike in other dungeons and dragons universes, spell scrolls are not limited to those who share a class with the spell housed in the scroll. In the Fractured Skies, spell scrolls are imbued with magic all there own by the original caster. Anyone can attempt to use a scroll, regardless of class; following the normal rules for casters without an equivalent spell level. However, if they lack a spellcasting modifier, they instead use their Intelligence score (without profiency).Spell List:
