The Undercity

In the late 1880's, lower-lying areas of Emerald City suffered significant flooding- and sanitation-related problems, which led to the city authorities covering over, then building atop, the old central part of the city closest to the water. This created "The Maze" where buildings and streets from the 19th century are preserved beneath the city’s current downtown area, a ghostly echo of Emerald’s past. Today, portions of this once-buried secret is the city’s leading tourist attraction for those with a taste for the macabre and outré.
