House Argus
"The Highlander may rule the land, but out House shall forever rule the seas!"
History
House Argus was founded by Argus himself, one of the eight Companions of the Highlander King. Legends of Argus vary from one text to another; according to one legend he was a simple fishermen living simply from the Riverlands, another says he was a sailor and sea-trader exploring the waterways of the Freelands, and even another one says he was a dreaded pirate and raider. More heretical legends claim he bargained with the Sea Goddess, Lady Curruid Coinchenn and become the first Tritons and helped sire the entire mutant race of Humans. Regardless he is best remembered with a trident in hand standing at a prow of a ship commanding the naval forces and wielding is own brand of blue magic in service to the Highlander King during the Great Revolution and long after.
His descendants became as varied in profession as his legends; his kin, Knights, and Knightly Orders were all men of the sea and protected the Freelands from all manner of aquatic threats ranging from Krakens, Sahaguin, and otehr sea monsters to pirates and Sea Elves. House Argus's heraldry was a green Kraken, the greatest known threat to the sea, with it its tentacles wrapped around a golden trident splashed against a blue background; all other houses beneath them used the Giant Octopus in their motif as well but the trident is reserved for House Argus itself.
The House of Argus was the defacto navy of the entire Freelands and it patrolled the two Channels and the three Seas, and when the time the time of the Great Rebellion came and their ports were sacked and burned by the New Blood's Warforged Army and the Holy Order of the Light's torches then were was no navy to save the navy.
