History

House Epona, founded by Lady Epona, was one of the eight Companions of the Highlander King. Lady Epona was just as wild and freedom loving as the rest of them, nothing better exemplified this than her love of the horses native to the Reach. With her bow in hand, she sat upon her stallion who according to legend was named Pwyll. She had a way with horses, and by extension was rather friendly with the local Centaur nations wandering the plains of the Reach as well. Notably according to legend she was exceptionally short by most standards yet could control some of the most wild of stallions, more heretical sources claim she was a Halfling blessed by an immeasurable amount of death defying Luck from The Crocea Mors, the deity presiding over death, and helped create Halflings as a race. Why The Crocea Mors did this no one could say, perhaps it just liked her pluck?
She, her followers, and her descendants made up the bulk of the cavalry of the Highlander King's army during the Great Revolution and all the way up to the Great Rebellion. Her heraldry and emblem, obviously, was that of a horse; specifically a red horse against a black bow and white arrow splashed on a green background. All of her kin, Knights, and Knightly Orders held a horse in their heraldry as well.
During the Great Rebellion, House Epona's cavalry was broken against the Warforged bulwark of the New Blood's army and the Holy Order of the Light used fire to frighten and flank them into the waiting Warforged reinforcements. It utterly decimated House Epona's army and was one of the final nails in the coffin that was the end of the Kingdom of Man, for her descendant's cavalry easily made up a third of House Highlander's army.
