House Reynard

"Your face is my face, and shall be our face"

~a creepy quote found on an old House Reynard document

History

House Reynard's history goes back to Reynard himself, one of the eight Companions of the Highlander King himself. It is a House built upon the backs of spies, assassins, and thieves; all of which were sanctioned by House Highlander itself. Reynard prior to meeting the Highlander King was a notorious thief trying to survive under the Elvish Empire, some say he was a highwayman robbing Elvish coaches while others say he was infamous burglary breaking into their manors stealing treasures. The Highlander King saw potential in him and taught him magic. With his new gifts and newfound loyalty to the Highlander King, he became his shadow and double in order to protect and serve as best he can with his skullduggery. His heraldry was a red fox with a silver dagger in its mouth against a black, gray, and white striped background. His kin, Knightly Orders, and Knights all held similar foxes in their heraldry and emblems as well.   According to rather heretical legends, Reynard was a Changeling who was born of an oath he made to Lord Koalemos Vejovis. He offered his own identity in exchange for the ability to become others, and the rather chaotic and evil god found his bargain amusing. No one before him had made such a strange offer, and thus agreed to it. Since then he and his descendants became the first Changelings in the Freelands.   When the Great Rebellion came, the Holy Order of the Light and the Warforged army of the New Bloods were not entirely sure who was in House Reynard or one of its Knights. Thus many innocents were purged in the name of cleansing out roguish Changelings in the name of their Goddess and the Rebellion.
